Staying up late waking up late? - Tuesday, June 27, 2006 11:07 PM
Is staying up late and waking up late good or bad for your body? and is going to bed early and waking up early better for you?

heres my humble opinion. peoples body chemistrys are all different. your internal clock may want to sleep at different times than other peoples. as long as you get enough sleep you should be fine. Im not going to say you need 7-9hrs because i know people who sleep only 5 hrs a night all the time and perfectly fine with that. but its proven that getting enough sleep is crutial for rebuilding.

Yeah, whether you stay up late and wake up late or go to be early and wake up early totally depends on your internal clock.  I saw this family (father and daughter) on the news who couldn't physically stay up much past 7:00 in the evening then they would wake up at 3:30 in the morning.  They were perfectly healthy.  Just slept at different times.  Story is below:

I work a three pm to midnight shift. My clock's all screwed up, but I do get plenty of sleep within my day, which is the most important thing.

I don't know I feel weird when I go to bed at 3 in the morning and wake up at 1 the next day.

If you don't get enough sleep you'll just feel really tired, if you oversleep you just feel lethargic the next day.

I don't think there is any real science as to how it affects you physically if you have wild sleeping patterns.

I think any strange feelings about waking up at 1 in the afternoon is purely psychological. I personally hate waking up at 1 or 2 and knowing that everyone’s out in the house, and my sisters coming back from school in an hour. I feel like a waster.

yeah i've been sleeping late because i try to eat a certain amount of food in the day.
since it takes me a while i ussually go to bed later and later and wake up later and later in the day

like 2 weeks ago i would go to bed like at 5am then wake up like 2 or 3pm in the afternoon

thats stopped recently since i stopped eating so much but i always seem to wake up about 3-4 hours later and just lay in bed hoping to get some more
