Starting out - Friday, March 23, 2007 8:41 AM
I am 34, had 2 kids in 2 years work full time, with a goofy schedule so daycare cost don't overwhelm us. When my guy and I got together 6 years ago I was 5'8" 155.  I gained lbs with my first child just started loosing (240 down to 225) when I got pregnant with the second. Luckily I didn't gain anything (I actually lost 14 lbs the day after I gave birth) weight 211 over the next 3 years I fluctuated back up to 225, in December '06 217. Meanwhile my guy has gotten the "I want to be Arnold Jr. bug" and has made a muscle gain (155 to 210) in the last 2 years. In the last 6 months I have found out that he has held it against me that I didn't join him in his quest for perfection and it has seriously hurt our relationship. To the point where we are supposedly broken up but still living together (We own the house). Blah Blah Blah
My question is What can I do with limited time and limited places to work out? I have always liked working out in my younger years I was a competitive swimmer but I now live in a town with only an outdoor city pool (upper Midwest cold right now) the place to work out has the most messed up hours I have ever seen (open 3 hrs on Sunday) and I hate to run cause I waddle. Once it gets warmer I am planning on riding my bike more and I do try to get to the gym on  my days off but since the first of the year thats happened only a handful of times. I started out, beginning of December at 217 and am currently 194 so I have done a bit. My first goal was less than 200 hit that in February then my next goal was to weigh less than my guy (thank god he gained back the weight he lost due to illness) I hit that goal end of February. My next goal is 175 so I still have a long way to go there. Help me out folks. I do have a very nice weight machine in my dinning room but its my guys and every time I ask him to help he says why cause I wont stick to it.
When I diet and lose I go low carb cause I love Mac & Cheese and mashed potatoes so thats the easiest way for me to lose. Any help is apprieciated. Thank you

I am sorry to hear this!

Lots!!  Do you want to train at home?  Do you have a body ball and some bands?  What is your time available and how many days per week?

I have always liked working out in my younger years I was a competitive swimmer but I now live in a town with only an outdoor city pool (upper Midwest cold right now) the place to work out has the most messed up hours I have ever seen (open 3 hrs on Sunday) and I hate to run cause I waddle.
You can do circuits at home and get some fat off that way, I can give you examples.
Once it gets warmer I am planning on riding my bike more and I do try to get to the gym on  my days off but since the first of the year thats happened only a handful of times.
Better than nothing, now build on it....

Yes you have and congrats!!

Can you tell me the name of it or show me a pic!  I can help you!!

I prefer higher protein with good carbs, low starch and my suggestions will be along those lines but first you answer my questions above.

See red - then get back to me

Unfortunately My preferred place to work out is in a gym atmosphere. I want to go in sweat like a dog and leave, but I don't have that kind of freedom anymore. I can probably eek out an hour a day Monday - Thursday away from the house (our kids are 3&5) I have a bellydancing fat burning DVD I try to do but my son cries and wants me to hold him while I'm doing it -- Great for extra endurance & burning a few extra calories I guess. Personally I own no fitness equipment besides the random Tae Bo VHS tape. We are looking at getting an Ab lounger. At Home the major obstacle I have are my kids being under foot and not wanting to look like a doof in front of my guy. I am highly uncoordinated in a choreographed situation-- I can't line dance either. My guy read the first post and figured out it was me and said he'll post pics of the machine later this weekend. It says Marcy Smith-Cage strength system w/ 300 lbs Olympic grip weight set. Well thank you for getting back to me.

Okay well you can get in a great circuit in under an hour, but would need to be able to do it, if you have to stop here and there for baby then you have to do your best and get it in as you can but won't be able to sweat hard unless you can go non stop for a good spell.

I would also say right now, if you do pec dec, do not bend the arms, just keep elbows soft but have then out to the sides with inner elbow in pads and palms will face in when you do it.

Choose smith lunges or squats, seated rows, smith delt presses, crunches on the ball, lower back extensions on the ball, smith calve raises, tricep dips, bicep cable curls.

RE: Starting out - Tuesday, March 27, 2007 10:58 AM
Sorry I am changing my login to something less lame.
Thank you for all of your help. Last night I made it to the gym and did 30 min in the eliptical on the hills and mountain setting. 3000 strides 250 calories then I did some adductor work. The main areas I need to work on are from my waist to my knees. Flatten out my stomac lift up the butt and slim the outerand inner thigh (Hip area mostly) I have what I think are large shoulders already and when I lift I'm afraid I'll start to look manish. My guy helped me by explaining things I dont know the technical term for and making sure I was using proper form. Haven't gotten the Ab- lounger set up yet but thats supposed to happen tonight. Again thaks for your help
