a 4.7 in eight grade? Are you serious? That's crazy. The guys are 13 or 14 too.

Today was supposed to be a resting day but I decided I would workout. I did the biceps/shoulders workout. Not much to say really... football camp on monday again.

7th actually..I wouldn't beleive it if I didn't see it. His dad was an nfl linebacker (backup but still) and his mom was on the US track team. He actually isn't that good at football is the crazy thing, just pure speed amazing at track though.

Lol parents are linebackers and track stars. Thats got something to do with it.
Around here most dads are farmers and moms work at a day care or stay at home or something. We just dont have genetics with us... its not the same in a small town in ohio ha.

Re: Starting Young - Saturday, August 01, 2009 10:01 AM ( #93 )
I havent posted in a while so I got a few things to say.

Today I'm going to be doing my tricep workout....I have had a few days off because i've been really tired.

At football camp is finally over and now we're in for practice. And that means we get to see who has an edge over the competition and who the coaches want to start. We've only had 1 full day of practice so far, where we actually divided into the starting teams. I made it at split end on offense, and I guess we will have to see who makes it at DB. Its not official, but it just gives you a feeling that he wants me to start.

Also, the other day I had my cousin over-- that means I'd actually have a spotter. So I decided to somewhat max out on the bench. The most I ever tried was like 80 sum. I got 90lbs. Not great at all, but for me its a step..lol.

Gotta get more vitamins and omega-3, I'm out. Later on tonite we got a picnic to go to.

Re: Starting Young - Monday, August 03, 2009 1:36 PM ( #95 )
Thanks JMBS.

And the good part was it was with probably my best maxing out form yet...I went down all the way (maybe too far lol) and then made it up with the right form. While lifting at the high school there was this kid who many days was my lifting partner because he was in my carpool. He thought he was always so much stronger than me. When I would put on 65 to bench he'd be like: "Ha, coaches are going to think your still a 7th grader!" And what does he do? He puts on 70 and does it really sh!tty, kicks his legs like a dog trying to swim and goes down half way each rep. LMAO.

Football again tonite 2nd day in partial pads. Want to go swimming some time to get a little cardio and some sun. Anyway I just got done with a fairly short 30 minute bicep/shoulder workout which went pretty good.

BB Curl
2 x 10 x 40lbs

Military Presses
2 x 5 x 40 lbs
Behind Head MP
2 x 5 x 40 lbs

Upright Row
2 x 10 x 40lbs

Band Military Press
2 x 10

Band Curl
3 x 10
Alternating Band Curl
2 x 10

One handed DB Press
Per Arm: 1 x 10 23lb DB

And I think that was all that I did....I really focused on going slow on my reps today especially on upright rows and curls. Feelin alright.

Re: Starting Young - Tuesday, August 04, 2009 8:23 PM ( #96 )
Today was yet another tricep day. It seems like im addicted to my arm days...I always seem to do them much more. But:

Bench Dips
1x10 nice n slow

The Bench Press
2 x 10 70 lbs First set went great no one second hesitation and great form, second, dont know what happened. Much harder for some reason but i did it.

OH Tricep Extension
2 x 10

Pushups
Not that much but ten normal ones and 15 with an added 10 lbs on my back. 25

Cable Tricep Extensions
2 x 10 60 lb resistance
1 x 7 with about that range of resistance

DB Press
2 x 10 23 lb DB (2 sets per arm basically)

On alot of these sets I went extra slow for even more of a workout.

So far in football I'm starting on offense and defense. CB and Split End WR. Was planning on being safety but a linebacker from last year is now a safety. Hes 6'2 and basically our defensive coach wants him to roam around and be his little toy lol. Kid hits hard too. Its mostly going pretty well. But todays conditioning in full pads sucked. Bearcrawl the width of the field, run the other 3 sides and do it again.

Even with football I've been eating more and bulkin up some. I weighed in at 109 today. And when I said i weighed 110 or something earlier that was after I ate a crapload and i didnt lift yet.

Lol JMBS i knew that. I meant where you can make your own custom one like connelly or vegeep have.

But Friday sucked. During football I had to sit out. We ran 40s and i felt fine. Got a water break felt good. Then all of a sudden when we ran plays i felt like sh!t. So i had to sit on the sidelines and puke myself 4 times. But today is supposed to be the first day of contact! And that means rabbit drills!

I'll post my workout later today.

Ha i know what you mean connelly. During Rabbit drills yesterday i was the first one to actually make a bruising tackle.  I heard coach Joe yelling OH YES OH YES! WHO IS THAT? haha...Then later on we were running plays and they did this option play to my side and didnt get the pitch off cause of the defensive end stopping him. Then they reloaded the play and since i knew what was coming right when the ball snapped I sprinted straight forward pushed the scronny blocker out of my way and drilled him just as he got the pitch. Ha...I cheat too much lol. But i know what you mean its a great feeling.

Well i jammed my finger yesterday at practice and turns out just a hyperextension, but it still hurts. So today I tried hitting and it was in too much pain so i had to stop. While they ran plays i ran laps and did sit ups and leg lifts. I did a total of 515 sit ups in a hour and a half lol. I'll be gone this weekend on vacation so i'll try to still somewhat train while im there.

I did a quick 35 minute lift. My finger was hurting so I couldnt do much.

Triceps Day (Which I do WAY too much. ha)

Bench Press
1x10 70lbs
3x5 70lbs
1x10 56lbs Pause bench...2 second pause when down one while up

Tricep Dips
2 x 10

DB OH Extension
2 x 5
2 x 5

Cable Extensions
2 x 10 60-70lbs

And thats all. I also went on a 3-4 mile bike ride this morning.  Football 3:30-5:30...looking like I won't be able to hit tonight, probably for like a week maybe. When I get home I'm hoping on doing some sprints and bearcrawls

Wow 700 situps. I noticed you said you were gonna do bearcrawls with your hurt finger, I might have hurt a different finger or something, but I had to do this thing called the trail of tears, after practice once, where you start at the goal line, sprint across it, go to the 5 yard line and bear crawl across it, then repeat across the field, and the bear crawl really hurt my finger so that might not be a great idea to help your finger get better. But depending on how bad it is you may just want to play through it, finger injuries seem to be the most common injury, atleast for me.

Lol JMBS.

And I'm going to try hitting on friday. Its making me really mad that coaches keep telling me to sit it out, since we havent even had our first scrimmage and its better to miss a week than miss a year. Idk, but this is becoming annoying with these "lingering" injuires.

I mean, I agree with the coaches that it is always good to be on the safe side with injuries, but in a game like football, you aren't gonna feel perfect very much, so some things you just have to get through. But as long as you aren't missing games, or getting your spot taken then taking a couple practices off shouldn't be to bad.

Indeed it does. And in football theres a difference between being injured and being hurt. Right now its crossing over into being hurt, yet they still want me to sit out. And it always seems like coaches dont know what theyre doing. (Like last year in the game i had 2 picks, In the 3rd quarter I came out for the first time to rest a few plays. That exact play when I came out, their qb scrambled outside and ran right through my replacement for the only TD of the game. Then the next 3 games my playing time seemed like it was cut in half, thinking that I was the one who lost us the game there, when it was my replacemet!) Thats the most p'd off I've ever been. I really think the coaches are making it a bigger deal than it should be.

Just make sure your feelings don't show as disrespect for the coach.  I would think he's got a lot to keep his eye on.  Can't be you all the time.  In the grand scheme he'll notice your contribution.  Stay cool.  Never thought I'd say it, but school sports will probably teach you way more than the books ever will.  Don't get me wrong, academics will open doors and will enrich your life with greater understanding and appreciation.  It is THE reason you're in school.  But you're learning stuff in football you can use for a lifetime out in the "real" world, whatever that ends up to be.  Good luck!  :)

I hear what your saying, but there is really nothing you can do, I mean the coaches are there to look out for you, they aren't trying to do anything to hurt you or the team, but they make mistakes or see things differently than you sometimes, and you pretty much just have to deal withit. Talking back to the coach is a sure way to not get back on the field.
