Startin out tall and skinny - Tuesday, January 22, 2008 10:36 AM ( #1 )
Hello,

The names Adam. I mostly just hangout in the nutrition section of this forum but i do have a question that bothers me extremely.

My wrothless self now hah:

anyways....

On the right side of my chest (look at pic: the side without the tattoo's) My right chest / breast sticks out probably 3/4 an inch to about an inch bigger than my left side. I can feel thatin the center of my chest the bone is popping out more than the one on the left.

First thing i did when i noticed this some time ago was called the mom and asked if there was anything she wanted to tell me that she was keeping a secret haha (almost like an adoption story but for my bone structure or heart problems) she said nope...

Anyone else have this problem?

2ndly) After about 30 minutes of working out. my ears start popping as if my sinuses were opening up. I had plugs in my ears as a kid but im not so sure that affects me now. I did recently quit smoking too. but it feels weird. My sinus gets blocked on my left side and almost start having a runny nose. I'm thinkin its the smoking, but i'd like your input as well.

Age:22

Weight: 141  :(

Eating 5 times a day, 6 if im lucky (work night shift)

dont have gym membership. Work out at home.

Thanks in advance for your comments, concerns, questions.

from the looks of it you just gotta eat a ton man, and im glad to see you've made a turn and stopped smoking, much props to that, I've seen how hard that can be.  To your specific question i cannot answer as im not familiar with any of that stuff lol.

yea.. keep the smoking out.  nicotine is a vaso-constrictor... so it makes your blood vessels get nice and small which = NOT GOOD.

keep eating.. don't miss a workout.  changes will happen slowly.. take pictures, b/c you won't notice b/c it all happens gradually.

you have lots of potential though

not to go against what you said but he will probably see major gains relatively quickly if his diet is in check, as a novice and new his "newb" gains will be great, probably something simialr to mine (50+ pounds in one year)

true. but i meant muscle-wise.  a muscle doesn't just go from tiny to "ZOMG that' HUGE" in 1 night.  it grows slowly over time...

that's all i was referring to. but i get what you were saying

Thanks guys for input. Nothing hurts while working out so i dont think it will be too much of a problem, but i'd hate to start getting bigger ...and THEN it comes a prob.

Im due for a check up at the doctors anyway. Haven't been to one since high school. 5-6 years

Btw it is perfectly normal for someone's chest to be bigger on one side, even as dramatically as yours, it's just the size and shape of the muscle you were born with. My left peck, for example, covers a larger area and is thicker than my right, thats just how I am made. Don't worry about it.

coo virtuoso. Yea, if it was like 2 inches then i might have somethin to worry about. but seeing that i haven't had any breathing issues, or heart problems because of it in the past 22 years. Dont think anythings gonna happen now.

It also has to do with whether you are right or left handed. Obviously if you have been using your right hand and arm more throughout your whole life, that side will be more developed.

Keep up the good habits and you will eventually see gains. Make sure you are eating enough protein too. I was stuck for a while and then kicked up my protein (1-1.5 grams per pound of body weight per day) and made some noticable gains.

I'm right handed, my left side still bigger. I don't think that has too much to do with it.

as for the sinusy pressure type thing, i had the same deal for my first few months in the gym when i started with the heavy lifting, but i guess my body got used to it and i haven't had my ears popping or anything like that for a while now. it may be related to your breathing while lifting.

LOAD EVERYTHING.... 600g+ on carbs and 150g on protein. EAT EAT EAT... Then hit the weights and set a goal 8 weeks away!. try that and then set more goals and only focus on those.

60 pounds in a year is a lot of weight. What is your goal for 8 weeks out? You have to break your big goals into smaller ones for them to work.

Exactly, listen to her, shes smart as hell! Make your goals reasonable and somewhat attainable, not that I'm saying a 60lb gain isn't attainable. But to gain a solid 60lbs in a year.. might be pushing it. Well I'm not sure what to say, but eat a ton of healthy food, train hard and sleep(if I'm tired, I will seriously go to bed @ 8pm). Sleep seriously helps with your gains if you're doing everything else properly. You'll be good to go in no time :D.

*Bump*   I would shoot for 20 - 25 per year.. If you put on 60 in a year that would be incredible though..  Who knows how your body is going to respond to the training / dieting though.

If he's never touched a weight before, and hasn't really dieted correctly, putting on 50 pounds in one year seems plausible.

I can't remember who exactly, but I seem to recall that he was a mutant freak of nature, and therefore the exception to the rule.

well your tall, like me so while 60 lbs is alot...u got a year and your just starting out.  I was a decently experienced lifter starting last september and ive put on about 30 lbs since then of almost all muscle.  Thats what...not quite 5 months. Of course my gains are probably going to slow down now but id say go for that 200.  If you work hard enough youll definatly be up around there.

hah trust me. Sleep is the last thing im worries about. Because i work night shift, it makes me more tired for some reason. So i sleep a good 10-12 hours a day. hah.

Im sure 60lb's in 1 year is alot. But as a goal weight thats what im looking for. Maybe Mid 2009 then hehe.  I'd like to gain 2-3 lb's a week.

I take it this isn't gonna happen?

2lb's a month! are you guys serious!? is gaining really that complicated? Sure there are some of you that say its up to your genes. but damn...This is going to take forever (Not a bad thing)

But then again. even 10lb's later I will look 10x better than i am now.

Well, if you try to gain that much every week, most of it's gonna be fat. 1 pound a week is more realistic.

okay. So 45-50lb's a year is possible off your "1 pound a week is more realistic"

But thats gonna be obtained by not skipping a single drip of anything and being perfect. I have been always good at surprising people. Maybe I can do the same for you all :-p

thanks for your inputs. seriously. Appreciate it.

Yea.. 1 pound a week is a bit more realistic and when you gain 30+ lbs it might slow down. Maybe .5-.75 lbs a week. Like Jheft said, if you gain 3+lbs a week, a majority of it will be fat most likely.
