I highly recommend getting one of those pads for the squat bar... it totally saves your neck/shoulders!!!

Agree. I tried it bare bar.. hated it.

Same here, I've tried the bare bar- But I've found that an old fleece sweater rolled around the bar and taped in place hurts the wallet less.
