Sport/Energy Drinks... Good or Bad?
-
Monday, November 17, 2003 3:17 PM
I know nothing beats good ol water, but can sport drinks such as Gatorade, or energy drinks such as Xtreme Energy Fuel (http://www.twinlab.com/spn-product.cfm?Product_ID=1032&Subcategory_ID=ENER) provide any positives? If so, do they out weight the negatives? Thanks Guys

The one I like for rehydration is POS3 by AdvoCare. For an energy boost I like Spark. Neither of these have a lot of sugar like most of the others. I know a former NFL player that says several of the NFL teams use POS3.

I don't think there are many negatives to these drinks other then the money lost. Some do work.. others don't. I used a product by Cydosport for carb replacement after a long hike and I felt better. Water is #1 but some of these drinks really have valid stuff in there and can be good for recovery. I'm not sure of the one you linked to as I'm not so positive on TwinLab stuff and having a pro-bodybuilder means little. They need money too. Endorsements are dime a dozen. But generally, these drinks work. But I'd stick to water most of the time and take these on a leg day or some crazy cardio session.
