My first time to the gym was the day before yesterday. I did everything except for back and thighs. Now today, 2 days later, I feel still really sore. How many days is common for feeling sore as a beginner?? And would taking more protein help the soreness to go away, if not, what would?? Finally, someone told me that feeling sore means that your muscle tissus just ripped and they will repair by getting bigger, is that true?

Soreness is very natural for someone just starting out- And, depending on the type of training you're doing, soreness could be part of your normal routine- But probably nothing like you're feeling now. Your soreness could take days to go away, since this was your first time in the gym- But next time won't be so bad. Eventually, depending on the routine you choose, you might not even feel sore at all. Don't let anyone tell you that you have to feel sore the next day or you didn't work out hard enough- That's a total myth. I rarely ever feel sore anymore, and I've been seeing great gains. Protein will help build your muscles, you have to eat a lot of it to get good results- But I doubt it'll help with your pain right now. Why don't you post something in the training forum about routines? I'm sure we'll be able to set you up with something nice.

Really? Which routine are you on? I know you're bulking, so it can't be that you're not getting enough food.

ohh im getting enough food, protein.... everything alright. I dont know, Im following Max-OT, these days I kinda got tired of it so I just made up a program just like Max OT but my way. -------------- Thats why a couple weeks before school ended I was scared to workout till school was over. I got in soo much trouble. I thought I'd get some new girls because the school is about to end so I did, then I found out 3 of them had boyfriends, I actually fought 2 of them, of course I beat em'..lol. But the other one, I didnt fight, he said if he saw me out of school anywhere, I was in trouble, I was laughing at him but I think his the strongest one out of all 3 of them. Last week of school so many guys started hating me. Not just because the girls, but because I fought their friends. The whole school was talking about me. Rumor was going on that 20 guys were gonna jump me. Nothing ever happened but a lot of small stuff happened at school that made me go to The Officers Office everyday, thank god im his favorite student in the school. ---------------- hahah.. I just woke up and Im tired, I felt like telling my story and right now its 2 pm in the morning too....

Don't let anyone tell you that you have to feel sore the next day or you didn't work out hard enough- That's a total myth. Like I said earlier- No, you don't have to feel sore after a good workout. Not even the day after, or two days after. I'm not saying that if you're sore you DIDN'T get a good workout either though- Just that soreness is not necessary. It doesn't indicate that you had a good workout, but it can be a side effect of a good workout. When I was on TP-PT, during the first phase I was sore as hell because I was training everything twice a week- And towards the end of that phase, I was doing tons of sets for everything- Keep in mind though, that phase was only four weeks long, it's not a good idea to keep that sort of training up for a long period of time. So, soreness shouldn't be something you shoot for. Before finding this site, if I didn't feel sore after a workout, I felt like I wasn't pushing hard enough. Ever since I started working out right and eating right, I've seen much more progress and felt much less pain.

If it is your first time training muscles in the leg, you're going to be extremely sore for the next 2-4 days. Some of the biggest muscles in your body are within the legs and if you've never worked them before, it will be quite the shock for them. :) After I did my first leg workout consisting of: squats on smith machine, one-legged hack squats, leg press, and calf raises on various machines. I was sore for about four days, second and third being the worst. I remember limping my way upstairs and everyone at school thought I got injured from a sport, lol, that kind of pain was similiar to that after a weeks worth of skiing in the mountains. :D
