Something confusing about ACE - Wednesday, August 12, 2009 7:11 PM ( #1 )
My test is in seven days, well I saved Chapter 9 (strength training and program design) for last since everyone said it's the one you should pay most attention to.

Well, I always use my flash cards after I read a chapter to make sure I remember everything that I learned. There is one question on there that doesn't make sense, in the book it says the six types of resistance training are

**Dynamic Constant Resistance
**Dynamic Variable Resistance
**Concentric Force Development
**Eccentric Force Development
**Isometric Force Development
**Isokinetic

In the flash cards, it has..

**Dynamic Constant Variable Resistance
**Isokinetic
**Isotonic
**Concentric Contraction
**Eccentric Force Development
**Isometric Force Development

I don't understand, if the question on the test is what are the six types of resistance training and there is multiple choice with those... which one would I pick? It doesn't add up to me.

Is Isotonic just another name for Dynamic Constant Resistance?

Two types of isotonic movements would be concentric and eccentric. I would learn the first list and just know that those are the two types of  isotonic resistance  exercises.

**Dynamic Constant Resistance
**Dynamic Variable Resistance
**Concentric Force Development
**Eccentric Force Development
**Isometric Force Development
**Isokinetic

***Also in that second list "dynamic constant-variable" does not make sense, how would you have a varying constant in relation to exercise. Maybe in a science experiment where your variable is constant, also know as the "control." I don't think it would make sense in this context though.

For sure. Good luck on the test.
