how much are you using to shrug?  cause with straps you should be able to do upwards of 400+ pounds lol.  I would work on your grip strength...

Yea straps are a good thing for heavy sets but they can't do miracles. If you grip is sub par it will still be sub par with straps. Tried mixed grip?

You would get a lot better help in that area reading around the boards at www.gripboard.com

You have to sign up (free) to read however.

I had the same problem for deadlifts, by back wants more but I would lose grip.  I was told that by using a grip where one hand the palm is facing you and the other hand the palm is facing away, really helps you in the grip

Never use straps for anything.  Just deadlift more often.

Gripwork can help too.

Do you really want to depend on straps your whole life?

Try doing reverse curls but the key is not to wrap your hand around the bar place your hands like riding a snowmobile with your thumbs facing each other or on the same side of the bar as the rest of your fingers.
