Shoulder Update - Sunday, June 15, 2008 6:52 PM
Hi Guys,

After being able to do f-all gym work I've finally had my shoulder surgery (arthroscopy and acromioplasty) last week. Not too painful but even now I can feel the same dull ache if I try to do external rotation movements (i.e. elbow close to body and rotate forearm from 12:00 to 9:00 (if that makes sense). I really hope that all this hasn't been in vain!!!

Any rehab suggestions/tips from people who have had this surgery before. I miss working out :-(

I just posted to say I am glad you are on the road to recovery nachos.
I have nothing for you.

Do you have a physical therapist lined up?

Take Cissus for joint relief and get on the bands and start light for rehab.  Work your way into light weights slowly and don't force your shoulder to do something it doesn't want to do.

Good news. I just had my 2 week post-op appointment and the surgeon said I have the range of movement that he would expect at 6 weeks post-op. It's very encouraging... can't wait to get back to the gym!!!! I'm going to take it slowly of course :-)
