Should creatine casue diarheoa ? - Sunday, August 17, 2003 3:06 PM
Bit embarrasing but my doctors are shut until Tuesday.
Just started taking High 5 creatine again, took it about 5 yrs ago with good results.
Now, i have been taking it for 3 days and have had diarheoa since, is it a coinsidence or does creatine "flush" you out, it didnt last time but ????????

Cheers.......

It can. Stomach cramping is also a side effect.

There are Three Options:

1- Try a different brand. Maybe the quality you got wasn't great. Not all brands are exactly the same.

2- Drink more water. You should be drinking 1+ gallons a day. Creatine requires a lot of water since it's keeping your cell volumized with water.

3- Don't take it.

I've cycled on and off. I've stuck with one brand. I've suffered no symptoms that others have. But your experience is not unique. Just very annoying.

Just to cover the bases.. 5g is the usual standard amount taken. Some people report these symptoms if they take excess of that amount. How much are you taking on a daily basis?

There's a All About Creatine article in the Supplement forum.

One of the paragraphs mentions that people who use in excess of the recommended amount (5g) did suffer symptoms you described and once they went back to a regular levels, the symptoms dissipated.

Sounds like you just proved that line in the article true.

Thanks for the update.
