Sets and Rep Suggestions
-
Friday, September 09, 2005 8:41 PM
Hello all, I am new to the board, I have been lifting/working out for 6months now and I am starting to get more serious and more passionate about it. I have been expanding the different exercises I have been doing, and I was look for some suggestions as to number of sets and number of reps I should do for the following exercises: Pec Deck Tricep Cable Pushdown Leg Extension Dumbell Fly Lat Pulldown Shrugs Upright Pulley Row Side Deltoid Raise Front Deltoid Raise For the most part, I am currently picking a weight for each and doing it as many times as I can and once I can do about 25-30 reps for that exercise, I will increase the weight the next time I do that exercise. Any advice on different sets/reps for these exercises would be appreciated. Thank you.

When I train people I suggest they spend the first year mastering variations of the basic compound movements. I think once you have built a year of foundation with compound movement you should slowly incorporate the isolation movements. This theory is not so unusual, I read that victor Martinize still uses only compound movement for his triceps. and one other new guy used only compound movements while training for the Night of Champion
