Serious trouble losing weight
-
Tuesday, August 12, 2008 6:36 PM
Can't get under 230. I can drop 25-30 lbs to get down there in about 2-3 months time. I work out 6 days a week, do an easy week every 4, eat lots of vegetables and lean meats (chicken and fish- 5 small meals a day). I really am consistent, but seem to hit a block at 230. I've put on a little muscle these past months, but it's getting harder to do that even. Has anyone else hit a plateau like this? Is it normal? I don't know what else I can do at this point... I change my routine every couple of months and do two weeks of drop sets, then go back to cycling, then do a 90 day program. I figure that is enough variety to keep the body guessing, challenged. Weights are going up and I feel a little stronger, but where's the size? I've seen changes in the last 3-4 years, but man, the weight... it's killing me (probably literally). Thanks for any advice!

Hi there, Judging from your training method, (you mentioned that you've put on alittle muscle), your program plan is probably to gain size andstrength. Go stricter on your diets? Cut out all sweetened drinks. Howsmall is your small meal? Most people underestimate the portions whilehaving these 'small meals'. I know I did when I was trying to lose it... Try these mini-steps and see how it goes. By saying you want to loseweight, I assume your bodyfat is still quite high and the flabs arestill pretty visible. Otherwise, you wouldn't have posted this. Soobviously, you gotta tweak something in your diet. Post up what you eatdaily and we'll work from there? Cheers, Joe

watch your carbs. Even though you are saying chicken and fish 5 meals a day make sure youre not drowing yourself with carbs.. Carb taper thoughout the day and check how much food you are eating.. There is a such thing as not eating enough also in which the body may drop into survival mode and keep everything you eat. Work out how many cals you need and just eat 1-2g of protein per bodyweight and carbs 8-10 grams per weight, fill in the rest with fats. Dont forget fats are very essential to your body. Dietary fats coming in lets the body know that its ok to let fats go that you have stored. Avoid insulin spikes from carbs especially at the wrong time. Let me know how all that goes.. and if you have any questions feel free to ask

Eating 5 meals a day keeps your bodies metabolism running high. If foods always there, your body is always processing it and not storing it waiting for the next time you eat, if you do three a day.
