Todays Weight. 158.6 lb's at 9.6% Body Fat. I've yet to start getting to that gym because the owner has yet to call me back in ref. to how much i owe. So im just using my All-In-One system in the garage until this coming payday (friday) I was @ 150 at the beginning of the month when i quit smoking. Since them i've gained 8 pounds. I guess you could say my appetite shot through the roof for quitting. Again, im not looking to become MR Olympia here, but the fact that i am way too dam skinny and would like a descent figure, i just want to fill outward, stop growing, and be around 185-190lb's. Of course i dont want to be all fat, maybe 10-12 range, but if i have to gain a big number of fat to get there first i dont mind, i'll burn it off. Anywho. Updated pics: Front: My bicepts are 12" just to give you an idea. Not very big at all. And i can wrap my thumb and pointer finger around my wrist with ease. Pretty tiny huh. Side: Back: Adam

Once you get your gym membership all figured out, take a look at this link, grab a huge glass of water and a pillow, and prepare for some reading. http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/3-DAY-FULL-BODY-m303404.aspx Guys like us will respond better to workouts consisting of primarily compound lifts (squats, deadlifts, bench, O/H press, chins/pull-ups, dips, rows, etc.), and doing so with less frequency like 2 or 3 times a week. Get in, lift heavy, and get out in and hour or so. If you go down to the part where it reads: Mark Rippetoe's Starting Strength Routine: That's the golden nugget right there. That routine, along with a good diet, will pack on mass like crazy! That one got me from about 140# to where I am now at ~165#. Biceps went from 10.75" to 13.25" on it with no direct arm work. A new lifter should see great gains from this routine in the first few months. Look at some of brihead's posts too, he is doing wonders on that routine. Here is some comparison pics of me between 130# in January 08 and 160# in November 08: http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/fb.ashx?m=438923 To change things up a little, I just changed my routine to one that covers six primary lifts: Squat Deadlift Horizontal push Horizontal pull Vertical push Vertical pull I can vary the push and pull lifts as I like, but they will all still be compound lifts, no isolations like curls. I am by no means an expert, I just wanted to pass along some things that worked for me from one skinny guy to another.

It is with great pleasure I am writing my frist after-gym write up exercise thingy majigger thingy journal! So pre-workout I do the ronnie coleman breakfast. 2 scrambled egg whites w/ 1/2 cup of grits Glass of milk 30 minutes before i drive to gym i took my NOX-CG3(whats left of it) with big glass of water. Got to the gym @ 5:25 - amazingly there is quite a few people there, and it opened at 5. Anywho: Started with Shrugs- 1x14 @ 45lb's (warm up) 1x10 @ 55lb's 1x10 @ 65lb's After this im already starting to feel the years of weakness hah Move onto the DB Rows: 1x10 @ 35lb's 1x10 @ 40lb's 2x10 @ 45lb's I am feelin it like crazy right now! Crazy 8's: 3x @ 45lb's French Press: 2x8 @ 35lb's DB Curls: 1x10 @ 35lb's for warmup 1x8 @ 40lb's That was my breaking point. It had been 45 minutes or so (give or take) and I could not lift a 5lb's to save my life. But it's okay. it is my first day in the gym and I am happy that i lasted more than 30 minutes without puking haha. Since i didn't do chest today, I'll finish up at home with some push ups/pull ups and work on my abs for about 10-15minutes. All in all, it was a great first day and im happy i signed up at this gym. Plenty of equipment. New equipment at that and cant wait to go back on thursday. Adam

Gym @ 6:30 Rest interval of 1 min to 1min 30sec 3x5 Bench Press @ 115lb's - Man i'm weak! 2x5 deadlift @ 165lb's 2x8 dips 2x5 machine flies @ 100lb's Im curious. Only machines close to squat racks that they had were ones that were SLANTED toward you if you were looking straight at them by like 15 degrees. And from what i remember squats are strictly up and down right? So those slanted machines wont be of any use to me?

Another thing. I dont know about you guys. But when im doing my planned workout with 4-6 different exercises at 3 or so sets each. Im finishing them in like half an hour. And that with a minute or two break in between sets. People are saying to stay there for about an hour. But even if i slack or do one more type of workout.im spent after 35-40 minutes. Is that still descent? If i end up doing more workouts, then the one's i have planned for the following day will be used up. any suggestions?

Ran into some trouble this weekend. When I got home from work Sunday Morning @ 6am I was light headed, and felt as if someone took a bat to my stomach. I'm pretty sure I have a stomach flu of some sort. So i end up staying in bed all day sunday. When I woke up @ 8:30PM i went on the scale to find myself weighing @ 3lb's lighter than i did on friday. But im guessing that's normal when you are sick. I'm suppose to working out this morning in 30 minutes, but i've decided to take the day off to recoop. My dieting has slowed down too. I went from eating 6-7 times a day my first 3 weeks of quitting smoking. Now im back to sleeping over 8 hours and only eating 3-4 times a day. I dont know what's happening with me.

Well. Thing just keep getting better for the samurai. I had a heart attack on wednesday. Woke up 5:15pm feeling a pain in my chest so i went to the emergency room. Apparently the flu i spoke of last, moved to my heart and caused a viral infection creating a higher mass of enzymes which caused my heart to jump outta place. Anywho. 2 days later im home and just fine. Wont be able to workout for a week or so. But im kinda pissed. I quit smoking. have been eating healthy for the past 4 months, and then i get a heart attack at the age of 23. I dont get it. oh yea. the best part. im back down to @ 150lb's. So much for being 158. oh well. Im fine, im home. Im happy. Adam

Man oh man. Wow you guys are checkin up on me! haha love it! thank you for kind words. I'm doing great! I have been doing cardio the past few weeks and not doing much bulking. Just making sure everything is okay chest / heart wise. I get back into my bulking routine after I get the okay in about two weeks. Everythings fine though. I'll prob start this week. He's just telling me that to be careful. Typical doctor speel. I did lose 5lb's in those 3 days which kinda pissed me off haha. screw being healthy I wanted those 5lb's i gained :) I am now back to @ 155 again. At least im a healtty 155. Im coming up now on 2 months of no smoking and i feel amazing. Anywho. Thanks again for checkin up on me guys and gals. Much appreciated! - Adam

Wow, I some how missed your post about the heart attack. Not that I'm stalking you, but yours is one of the journals I tend to read, when it's updated. So, all things considered, your doing great! Keep on Keepin' on, and you'll be where you want to be.. Good progress, congrats on the smoking... !!!!!' although I do prefer the messy hair to military hair...but that is just my taste, hahaha

Quick update: Still @ 162. I am still eating at least 4-6 times a day depending on where im at. Now taking creatine and Whey twice a day and trying to workout at least 3 days a week. Got my home gym situated. Althought it's gonna be hard to guestimate how much weight im pulling because there are no stickers with my machine to put on the weights. But each plate is 10 lb's and i think it goes up to 160lb's. Thats more than enough to get me started. I put these images together to help me and to show you all, all the amazing things i can do at home with just this one machine. It's pretty dope. Cheers.
