Barbell Hack Squat
Exercise Data
Main Muscle Worked: Quadriceps
Other Muscles Worked: Forearms, Hamstrings, Calves
Equipment: Barbell
Mechanics Type: Compound


What do yall think of this kind of squat, how effective is it compared to regular squats?
Old Lifts: Bench-335, Squat-455, Deadlift-495
New lifts: Bench-375, Squat-545, Deadlift- 585

i would also like to know more about this as i wont have a squat rack this summer when i workout...would this be a good replacement?
first day with no buds, 11/17, need a new job. 1 down 13 to go.

I have never seen anyone do this, but it looks a lot like Hexbar deadlifts, with the movment and where the weights are actually at compared to your body.
 
Hexbar deadlifts arent true deadlifts, and some say are more like squats.
 
Thinking of it like that, It doesnt come anywhere near the squat in effectivness IMO. It wouldnt be a bad alternative if you dont have a squat rack tho.
 
Maybe someone has actually done them, and can give you a better response.

our coach used to have us do those, and in my opinion they are extremely ineffective and the bar would often rub up against the back of my legs and rip out hairs.

yeah im not a fan of these either. and yes they are like hexbar deadlifts, but normal backsquats are much better. i hate hacksquats.

do them on a hacksquat platform. there actually underrated i love them, i do them every leg workout. very isolated and tough

Like i said before, I never noticed any gains or anything good out of these, but I would go ahead and try it for a month and see if you notice anything.
