S.O.S. - Sunday, October 01, 2006 2:03 AM
Because of my grades' decline, my parents have stripped me of access to 24 hour fitness, my only access to lifting. I have no weights at home (excluding my mom's pairs of 5 and 10lb dumbells) and I want to maintain my strength, and gain strength and size (if possible) without lifting, mostly because it will take 2-3 weeks for my grades to rise.

Any suggestions?

a 10 pound dumbbell wont get you anywhere, to gain size eat and eat and eat, as for strength just go up to a couch/lounge or whatever when there are people sitting on it and start deadlifting the couch from the arm rest or somthing  lift anything you can, for as long as you can. that'll keep you up with things untill you cant find your way back to the gym.

Bodyweight exercises.  There are tons of push-up variations out there, lots of Y-squats, etc.  You'll be fine, and if there is any decline in this relatively short time, you'll come back very fast.

enjoy the rest off...keep your eating clean and maybe do some bodyweight exercises like gzinkl said to keep the muscle memory...you'll be fine.

Personally my suggestion would be to start your academic work and once the reports and grades go up, negotiate a 1 hour session of weights with your parents, and continue with your academic work, both people win, to be quite honest if youre working with weights more than 1.5 hours a day youre overworking.

I'm barely failing honors english II (69), once it gets up to a C (75) I can head back to the gym every day.

man that really sucks.. i dont think ive passed in any subject since 7th grade and my parents have learnt to live with it. maybe if you started making failing a regularity your parents would give you a break.

Do your best, man.  If you're in honors english, you can ace it.  Or else you wouldn't be there .

Strong in mind, body and soul!
