If you honestly made a good attempt to learn the lift and everything and it's still hurting your lower back, then I'd give it up. Try lowering the weights and doing it. Before you hit the gym, read an article about it so you know your form will be better.

If you haven't made a good attempt to learn, keep it, and try to learn it. When you actually have good form and do it and it still hurts, then get rid of it.

Go light during the learning process so you don't hurt yourself longterm. I'm not sure if anyone else will agree with me though.

On straight leg deadlifts it's very difficult to get your back paralel to the floor without bending your lower back

A better alternative imo would be stiff leg deadlift or romanian deadlift; your knees are slightly bent so you can get lower and it also works the glutes a lot more and they are softer on the lower back

Deadlift max - ¿?

the stiff leg deadlift shouldnt have your legs locked out, they should be stiff but slightly bent and you should feel a slight stretch at the bottom of the movement.  If you having trouble with your lower back i would check your form it is very easy to round the back with the exercise.

oooh ok..keeping  my back straight is the problem
I do get corrected all the time. when I do them on my own I am not doing them correctly because my back hurts. I do tend to round my back and my shoulders lean foward for whatever reason. I feel like I am keeping my back straight but I am not.

The trainers at my school tell us to put our shoulderblades together to keep our back straight.

Try doing romainian deadlifts instead.  That's where you start in the standing position holding the weight, and you bend forward, while keeping your legs and back straight and the bar over mid-foot throughout the lift.

Start out light, maybe just the bar.  Get the feel for this lift, it's great for the hamstrings.

‎There is no such thing as straight legs deadlift. There is stiff leg deadlift and romanian deadlift.

Stiff leg deadlift (SLDL) is a real deadlift off the floor without the knees moving. Romanian deadlift starts at the hang position and is done by moving your hips backwards and letting the barbell slide on your leg down without letting the knees travel forward.
