Resveratrol is a phytoestrogen.  By definition, phytoestrogens are substances that mimic some of the effects of estrogen, while blocking others. Soy is another phytoestrogen.

It is thus theorized that resveratrol ought to have similar effects.

At this time, the benefits of resveratrol have not been documented in any meaningful way, and there is evidence that resveratrol taken by mouth is broken down before it ever enters the bloodstream.

So we simply don't know with certainty yet.

However this paper:
Gehm BD, McAndrews JM, Chien PY, et al. Resveratrol, a polyphenolic compound found in grapes and wine, is an agonist for the estrogen receptor. Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 1997;94:14138-14143.

...they note that Resveratrol has a chemical structure similar to that of the synthetic estrogenic hormone diethylstilbestrol and it has estrogenic effects. They state that it might stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells in at risk women.  But be aware that Synthetic hormones appear to always be a greater risk, and resveratrol is natural.

Keep in mind that most supplements are built on smoke and mirrors, on supposition, dreams, and hopes.  Also, the effective dose for the desired effect is usually not in the supplement, only a trace or tiny amount.

They include it because people are looking for magic.  Because people know nothing about science.  Because people are gullible, and because pseudoscience is good enough to get an ingredient included in a supplement.

Now, R is a natural derived ingredient.  We therefore expect th benefits to be positive.  However, taking it from its natural complex and isolating it may cause it to be less positive.  It may be a problem.  On the other hand, it may have some benefit at the right dose for something.

We simply don't have conclusive evidence.  It has some promise.

But at what dose and duration and for what purposes...what is the mechanism of the desired action?

We will see.  Since evidence is mixed at the moment, either dose, duration, viability, or application are not right.

I see, Ya that makes sense, im glad i research my stuff before buying into anything lol ;p

Hey dan i asked this is another thread but I wanted to get your opinion.

I learned that the body will break down down in order to get calcium if it needs it etc.

so, Is it possible the body would break down muscle to get water if you were constantly in a dehydrated state, the muscle tissue is roughly 75%.

Thanks for all you insight big Dan!

Water is highly mobile in the body between tissues, for instance through osmosis and also through aquaporins (water moving pores).  The location and movement of water is responsive to osmotic balance and other factors.  If the ion concentration outside muscle becomes very high compared to the concentration inside muscle, water can move to the outside to dilute the higher concentration and make the balance equal.

The drop in water content, while causing  an overall reduction in muscle volume, is not an actual catabolism (breaking down) of muscle tissue and is reversible.
