i've stayed in the 4X8 range with squats, bench, bent over bb rows and oh press, mainly all your big core/compound lifts and has worked well for me.  i've put on 15 pounds of good weight in four weeks i've been doing this and still gaining size and strength.
this is just what has worked for me for size and strength...
stay in 4X8 range on the big lifts and 3X12 and the more iso type ones

I dont really do isolation workouts, the ones posted above is all i do .... I've staryed at this 4x8 rep range for 3 or 4 months already and have gained about 13 pounds (started at 147, am now 160) I've been stuck at 160 tho for about 1 month.... i eat like crazy and i gain weight during the day, the other day i weighed in at 169.8 lbs in the evening, the next morn i woke up and was back to 160.5, but i know that all the food and everything in ya...... anyways my point is shoulnt it be time to change something up, and if yes, what?

Thanks !

4x8 and 5x5 are both good.  No one responds to the same thing.

I tried 3x10 for about 6-8 months when I first started training and didn't gain anything.  I switched to 3x5 and my strength/hypertrophy increased by a lot.

I have a friend who doesn't respond to 3x5, just 3x10.  Truth is there's no magical rep range that gets you automatic results.  People have responded to different reps, sets, throughout all the history of bodybuilding.

As my training progresses and I become on the more advanced level, I will possibly switch back to 3x10 and see how I respond then.  I always think as a beginner you should go on a full body routine with 3x5 and provide a good base first, not a requirement though just my opinion.

It's more in the stimulis then the rep/sets.

I agree with what I said. I think you may have misspoken. you said "No one responds to the same thing" when that isn't true. If you and I were to start the same routine tomorrow we would both respond, I may respond better, or you may. But we would both respond.

OK.  I see what you're saying now.  I didn't see that you edited the quote.
