Red stretch marks between top of bicep and pec muscle - Monday, November 21, 2005 5:48 AM ( #1 )
hello all

ive been working out for just over 3 months now and have noticed dark red stretch marks right in the front corner of my arm pit between the top of the pec and start of the the bicep.

Everytime i do standing dumbell curls my pec n bicep tense and rub onto one another and hurts. I wouldnt say hurt just and an unconforable feeling.

Im not sure whether doin this excercise is causing this problem, the marks dont seem to go away. Anyone else experience this problem? any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance Zlat

Sounds like you are growing too fast...errr..yea

These are caused by rapid enlargement and appear when the skin becomes overstretched and the fibers in the deep skin layers tear.

Anyway, these are permanent.  They will turn white after a while.

I am glad you brought this up, cause my muscles are ballooning and last time I went from 145 to 200 staying at 11% BF...I got some nice stretch marks

Back then I made a salve to apply to them and they stopped "running"  yea, they were like runs in a stocking as the muscle grew.

Options..Coco butter or shea butter or elastin cream applied topically as per the label do help.

Or make your own:
1/2 cup virgin olive oil
1/4 cup aloe vera gel
Fluid from 6 capsules vitamin E
Fluid from 4 capsules Vitamin A
--mix together very well...in a blender works (to clean the blender, use your hand and wipe the excess on your growing muscles where the stretch marks appear (biceps, hips, thigh, pect/delt underarm area)

-- put this in a glass jar..preferably a dark glass jar and store in refrigerator.

Apply once a day every day to prevent further stretch  marks.

Thanks for reminding me to pull that recipe out!

I heard Zinc can help eliminate stretch marks.  I read that somewhere on the internet.  You might want to do a search on it for more information

Zinc does play a role in wound healing...? Hmmm

Note that your total daily dietary and supplemental intake of zink should not exceed 100 milligrams, otherwise it can depress the immune system.

That's interesting...thanks!

I have not found any clinical info to support this yet, but I will keep my eyes open!

I got sum niiiice stretch marks but i got them cause i was fat...the worst is the ones between the legs because when i run for long distances, theyve literally gotten so bad from rubbing together that theyve cracked and bled....i wanted to cry.  I've been using a medication that i got from a dermatoligist that is actually supposed to be used for acne.  Its a cream that you put on and dries out the skin.  Its making the stretch marks worse but its suppoed to before u stop using it.  I guess when im done using it its supposed to be better but it only works on red stretch marks.  If you got stretch marks that are white, you pretty much got em for a while.  I got a alot of those sucks but oh well.  its life

I’m going to air a pinch of skepticism regarding that article.  Yes, Zinc is vital to collagen synthesis and repair, but I wouldn’t say zinc deficiency is the greatest contributing factor in stretch mark formation.  In general –and this goes for everyone, not just bodybuilders- good skin quality, resilience, and elasticity depends heavily on adequate (not excessive, as Dan noted) zinc, vitamin C (not the paltry 60mg/day RDA), protein (obviously), and water.  Water, water, and more water.

veggeep I agree with you..  there are a lot of factors that it could be.  Just thought id share my 2 cents..  If it helps then it's worth it
