Recommendations for weight vests? - Wednesday, August 06, 2008 8:55 AM ( #1 )
Does anyone have any recommendations for weight vests that do not include the weights, but rather have the ability to accept round weights?  I found these:  http://www.closegrip.com/index.html  but surely there are less expensive ones out there?

I know I can get a 40# vest for around $100, just wondering if anyone knew of any like the ones in the link above but for less money.

We had something like this in the military. It was called a rucksack. Holds more than 60lbs. Cheaper than a vest too.

Tried that, bounces too much, and is too bulky for sit-ups and such.  That's why we want a vest.  Tight fitting and snug to the body.

If this vest is for sit-ups then I would recommend you save the money and just use a weight plate, or use a pull-up bar for leg raises and inverted sit-ups.

If this is for running, a secure and well packed ruck should do the trick.

You say "we", I guess someone else is going to use this too, unless you refer to yourself as we, which I do sometimes. If you are interested in a vest then I don't have much advice for you, most exercises can have resistance added to them one way or another.

Yeah, 'we' would be my wife and I, but mostly for her.  Looking for something to use on the thread mill, horizontal pull-ups, running outside, sit-ups, dips,  pretty  much anything  that we might  want to add weight to.

She did end up buying one of these from a co-worker Friday for a pretty decent price.  She really likes it so far, but I haven't tried it yet.   It came with 40# of weight.
