Really attempting to get into shape. - 2/7/2008 6:45:52 PM

Hey everyone, I'm a Junior in High School, and I really need to get into shape. I've tried before on my own but pretty much failed miserably, so I figured I'd get some advice from normal people who know what they're doing. :)

I'm currently 6'4" 225lbs, and I'm looking first to lose weight (get rid of that awful spare tire). My family is lower-middle class, so I don't have much in the resources department to help lose weight, so I need advice on cheaper foods and drinks which will keep my hunger supressed while still exercising. Also keep in mind that I'm in Wisconsin (hence the name) and yesterday we got nailed with 19 inches of snow, so outside training is limited at the moment (I'll start jogging in the Spring). I read the sticky which says 4-5 25 minutes cardio sessions, but that's for running/jogging, which I can't really do in the winter, how long would be suggested for a stationary bike?

I also would like advice on starting/progressive training routines (no equipment required, just like curls and push-up types) which would be easy for a beginner, any help is greatly appreciated. If you need any other information just ask.

Thanks in advance.

Whats your diet like? That's what's really going to having the largest effect on your results, and also what will be the most difficult part for you to control. Do you know your BF and have you ever lifted seriously before?

I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: 'I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God.' That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic -- on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg -- or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.

-Diet-
Breakfast: N/A - Wake up, shower, go to school basically. One of the things I'm guessing I should change.
Lunch: School lunch, I'll try and find out the calories and nutritional information.
Snacks: Cheese/Crackers, Gatorade.
Dinner: Whatever my parents usually cook, or some ready-made "meal"

Hardest to control: When my friends head out to lunch, not joining them and taking out a fast-food restaurant. =\

BF: Don't know, I'd assume it's pretty high, the last time I really worked out was when I played football in middle-school. Other than that I've done little to none. That's something I want to change, but losing body fat is taking priority.

Edit: No luck on lunch information. Other than lunch "specials" they don't even give names of the food. I'm guessing it's the cheapest food possible, probably pretty bad for you.

No equipment, I used to do that. Here is the routine (use pages 1-4) and description on intense push-ups, I'm pretty sure any exercise with your own weight is good for you. If you manage to find a chin up bar start doing chin-ups it'll make you stronger.

I'd reccomend once building up a base with standard pushups, do my Navy Seal routine a shot. It's in the training forum, and for the leg day just do body squats, and find heavy objects and grip them on the sides like db squats. Do the bike for 30 minutes 4-5 times a week of loss of BF% is desired, clean diet with lots of fiber/greens/lean protein, and yeah. Go to bb.com for good articles on cutting cycles, and try google cause sometimes they have deent findings.

yea id suggest running alot to cut away fat. get on a good diet lots of protein and try to stay away from fatty foods. get on a good cutting cycle. keep excersizing. if you really want to show some muscle start lifting on a good workout routine if you school has a weightroom see if you can get into it. i'd usually recomend a supplement like hydroxycut but your a little young. good luck!
