Hi, I am a long time lurker but first time poster. It would be helpful if you guys could give me some feed back on my routine. I am Irish and currently doing a Ph.D in Biochemistry in Bristol, England. I am 22, 6 foot and 79Kg. First off I am more interested in gaining strength than mass. Tuesday: Weighted Wide Pull Ups, 4 sets of 7 and one set of 5 negatives. Upright Row, 3 sets of 6 One Arm Row, 3 sets of 8 Shrugs, 3 sets of 8 Seated Rear Lat Raise, 3 sets of 10 Barbell Curl, 3 sets of 7 Hammer Curl, 3 sets of 7 Preacher Curl, 3 sets of 5 One set of Pull Ups to failure. Sat: Barbell Bench Press, 4 sets of 8 Incline DB Bench Press, 3 sets of 7 Weighted Dips, 3 sets of 10 Over head Shoulder Press, 3 sets of 7 Skull Crushers, 3 sets of 8 Cabel Tricep Extension, 3 sets of 10 Sun: Squats: 4 sets of 8 Lunges: 3 sets of 20 (10 each leg) Deadlifts: 3 sets of 6 Leg Curls: 3 sets of 10 Leg Extensions: 3 sets of 10 Good Mornings: 3 sets of 10 Standing Calf Raise: 5 sets of 10 Some exercises for hip abbductors. Thanks in advance for advice...

Wow that's alot of volume, look up starting strength, or you could do a common 3 day split like Chest/tri's back/bi's legs/ shoulders, or a push/pull/leg split.
Goals by end of 2009: Bench 205 Squat 255 ATG Squat Clean 185 "There is no elevator to success, you must take the stairs."

there is alot here that you need not do ... Eliminate one of your rows, and on each tuesday pick wichever ONE you want to do, too much bicep work on that day aswell unless your the biggest man in bristol your biceps will not benefit from all that extra bi cep work... again just pick one bicep workout. Saturday looks good ! Same with Sunday ! My only beef is tueday

Okay how about if I change Tuesday to the below... I am going to keep both rows for now as I like having both in the routine... Weighted Wide Pull Ups, 4 sets of 7 and one set of 5 negatives. Upright Row, 3 sets of 6 One Arm Row, 3 sets of 8 Shrugs, 3 sets of 8 Hammer Curl, 3 sets of 7 One set of Pull Ups to failure you would have for a back and biceps day... That better... I dont know it seems like I am missing something... what are the essentials that you would have for a back and biceps day...

Deadlifts are better on back day, your squats will benefit or your deads wont suffer. SLDL would be better on Leg day if you had them
