I am starting my work out routine next week and I was looking into creatine and whey protein. I read that creatine is completly safe and ok. Is this ok for me to take. Im 15 and I weigh about 145. (Im going to get an exact weight so I can keep a journal) What exactly does creatine do? I aslo was wondering why some creatine supplements are way cheaper than other. Why is this?

I am alos planing on getting whey protein. Can you mix this with water or will it be completly disgusting? I am planning on going to the store on Sunday to get some. Any info on all this would be great.

No point in a teen taking creatine. Is it safe? Debatable. I don't think there are any known cases of creatine and teens having adverse affects but at 15, you'd be better off just going for the basics. Wait until you are 19+ to start things that may or may not affect growth and development. I'm not even saying creatine will do that but just be safe. You won't get that much gains out of it at 15 anyway. But you will with diet and training. At 15, I can only assume diet is something you need help with to refine and really work on?

What does creatine do? A topic of the bonus books I have with my own Beginner's Guide and a small bonus for becoming a DB member.

But in a nutshell, it helps with ATP, so you have more energy to push more weight, to get stronger to get bigger. Creatine itself, does not build muscle.

Whey protein with water, if it's a good brand will be fine. I mix with water all the time with my Muscle Milk and it's great. But I've had stuff that tastes just okay with water.

There are several brands.

Muscle Milk by Cytosport if you want the good stuff
Optimum if you are on a budget

If you are planning on going to a store, you outta check out Supplements101

You might save a lot of money
And you will help support DB

WTF? you looked into creatine, yet you dont know if its safe, you dont know what it does, and you dont know the differences between them? how far did you look my little friend?

and yes, whey protein with water SUCKS! if you get it plain, i am too scared to do it with mine, 100% whey protein concentrate (try lemon-lime gatorade - it hides the flavor well) and dont pay more than 18.95 for concentrate and 28 for isolate. (35 servings)

Yes I looked into creatine. How would I know if its safe until I looked into it??? wtf? You have to learn to know things...

And I do know two people my age who do take it. I just wasnt sure if it was ok or not. I was just checking.

don't get discouraged by ppl like Gun Ryo, but I wouldn't advise taking creatine yet, mostly according is my understanding what it does is mostly speed the process for muscle recovery. More than that you should just be willing to take a day between working out, or alternate muscle groups. I think most people's problem when they are starting out is they want to work out everyday to get fast results, but they don't realize you have to give muscles time to recover. Work on that forst, but don't take more than a day off in a row, you will get into a routine of working out occasionally. thx,Sam

people like me huh? so i guess im in the "Bad People" category,
i just think thats a little weird that he has looked into this, but knows nothing of the supplement.
And i have looked into creatine, and i am on it, so im not some raving idiot here.

Gun Ryo- Asking questions about supps is part of the reason this site's here- Think about it, when you look into supps by yourself you can often get a lot of conflicting reports. The companies that sell them often pay people to write articles to talk about their benefits and the amazing gains you can get from them- And they don't always turn out to be true. It's always a good idea when you're thinking of taking something you're not sure about to come here and ask- After all, you'll probably find a lot of people who have actually used the stuff here, which is the best sort of info you can get.
Alex- Plenty of people have good results with creatine- But MDA makes a lot of sense when he said you should stick to the basics at your age, for a number of reasons. Your body's probably at the best point to start growing anyway right now, and you can achieve much more with proper eating habits than with any supplement out there- In fact, even when you're older and gains come harder, nothing's better than the proper eating plan for gains. I'm always telling people not to worry about supps until they're sure they're getting a hundred percent out of their nutrition plan anyway- Supps can't give you the edge you want unless your diet's right. Protein powder, on the other hand, is always a good idea- Since you have to get so much protein in a given day, a protein shake is an excellent fast way to do it- Eating six solid food meals a day would be almost ideal, but let's face it- Most of us can't put that sort of time into preparing all that food.
