Question about FitDay
-
Monday, July 25, 2005 6:44 PM
I have been working out for about a month and a half now and so far I have lost 15 lbs. (I've been "observing" the discussions around here most of that time and figured it was time to get involved) My goal is to lose another 30 or so. I am using Fitday.com to track my intake and activities, but I don't understand where it gets my basal and lifestyle calories burned on the activities tab. Can anyone explain this to me? It is saying that I am burning 2341 basal and 1442 lifestyle, but I don't understand how I can possibly be burning that many calories. Usually my activities, which include 20 minutes of cardio and about 30 minutes a day of vigorous weightlifting are only about 600-650. Thanks for the help. Matt [Edit} I just realized I maybe should have posted this in the beginer forum. Mods, feel free to move this if necessary. Thanks. Matt

That sound right for the 600-650 calorie burn for 20min weights and 30 cardio. I don't use the website fitday, I bought the PC version, it's way better. On the web interface, your basal is calculated using your age, sex, height, and weight. Remember your basal is just what your require to maintain life with out movement. Your lifestyle is added to your basal for total calories to maintain weight. Does that help?

Okay, that makes much more sense. I was just misinterpreting what the numbers meant. Thanks for the help Matt

Nitro... Can you do a post in say... Out of Bounds or something that gives a brief reivew of the PC version of this? I've used the online version since... well... ever. But is the PC version that different? I mean vastly better?

Yeah sure. Give me a few days to work on it. I'll include some screen shots of it too. Yeah there is a lot more you can do when it comes to tweaking your calorie need. It also lets you set goals for your macro-nutriants. There is a few other things. I'll have to look back over the web interface cause it's been over a year since I used it. I just looked at it today when I answered this post. I laughed cause it was so basic.
