Question regarding the rotator cuff muscles

With the ACE certification exam, I'm studying hard for it, but I'm having trouble understanding this. I've memorized the names of the rotator cuff muscles - suprapinatus, infrapinatus, teres minor, subscapular muscles. However, there is a question of mine regarding their function. How does the anterior, posterior, and lateral deltoids come into this? The primary role of the rotator cuff is strength and stability of the shoulder, while I'm sure the muscle groups listed has influence on it. The question "which part of the rotator cuff abducts the shoulder?" Which would refer to a lateral raise type motion, I'm unsure, the lateral deltoid does but I'm not sure how the Latin terms of the rotator cuff would influence that movement. Thanks for replies.

You will find explanantions of the shoulder articulations on http://www.exrx.net/Articulations/Shoulder.html There you will see muscles involved in shoulder abductions, lateral and anterior deltoids, supraspinatus, and pectoralis major. Good luck with the exams.
