Question on 5x5
-
Wednesday, June 09, 2004 8:27 PM
( #1 )
So as the process goes on, and the lifting gets more intense, should I do less reps and still do 5 sets, or should I do 5 reps and less sets? Also, once I reach the point where I am doing less reps, and less sets, what then? Do I keep working it until I can only do one rep? That doesnt seem right, because I thought the point was to not train to failure. Help me please. I want to get stronger.

If you want to get stronger you would add more weight same sets and reps just more weght. Keep Hanging & Banging Juice is the way of life

Right. Thats what I have been doing for the past three and a half weeks. Now the weight is getting heavier. I can still do 5x5, but my question is...When the weight becomes to much for 5x5, what then? Lower the reps, or lower the sets? Eventually, would I lower both? I am basically asking how the end of a 5x5 cycle should be. I mean it would be great if I just kept getting stronger and kept doing 5x5, but for some reason, I don't see that happening. Thanks for the help.

Drop the reps to 3 for all of the sets. Keep adding the weight!
