Question about running - Tuesday, July 21, 2009 3:50 PM ( #1 )
I was wondering if running a mile and only a mile straight for 7 min and 55 sec is any good? I recenty did this and I completed my ab work out before running so maybe that had an effect on my time results? I'm 5'10 and weigh around 175lbs, thanks.

If fat loss is the goal, I would recommend something like HIIT.

Your body adapts to cardio easily, which is why it should be changed frequently to increase aerobic conditioning.

to be quite honest if your long distance runner, 7 55 really isnt that good, you wanna get down to in the 6 minute range for a solid 1 mile pace.

as MVP said if your just looking for fat loss HIIT is definitely the way to go, it helped me out tremendously

I've always heard that hammering the abs before a run will degrade run performance, at the same time, I ran my fasted pace after exhausting the abs and hip flexors, so who knows.

In all running paces, 5:00 to 10:00, 8:00 is a good enough place to start, slow down to 9:00 and push for more distance so you can build up first. You will get some more speed from the increased endurance but there comes a time real quick when you have to pick up the pace.

It will work, or I'm done dieting.
