Hey all, im  18 and new to this board and relatively new to bodybuilding.  I bought some purple K and have been using it for about a month and have gotten relatively bad acne.  It doesnt seem to matter how much I wash my face, it just keeps coming back. Just wondering if purple k could be the root of my problem? Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

Did you make any other changes in your lifestyle? Eating habits or anything along that line?

If I rember correctly creatine mono broke me out a bit when I took it at 16. Now I'm taking vassive-ce and I'm fine.

Are you taking preworkout stuff with lots of caffeine? Are you drinking the purple-k with lots of sugary drinks?

The only thing in my diet that ive changed is cutting out fruit juice, and eating more yogurt.   By the way is yogurt actually healthy for you?

Yogurt? Hmm No not really I don't think so. But some people get a reaction from milk. You're not taking any protein shakes? How's your diet?
Post the calories, fat, sugar, and protein contents of the yogurt, because there are so many out there I can't really tell you if it's good for you.

Also rember to drink lots and lots of water. Don't give up on the creatine you have yet, increase your water intake. Your should be drinking like around a gallon of water or more per day on it.

You now what really worked for me in terms of acne? Fish oil. I take it everyday. I wish I knew about it sooner.

I take two servings of nitro tech per day, with 2 percent milk. But milk has never given me acne before. As for my diet i eat: flax plus cereal for breakfast, bacon/chicken/roastbeef sandwhichs for lunch, another 2 more sandwhiches without the bacon later on in the day, usually eat steak for dinner,  snack on carrots, tuna and yogurt throughout the day, as well as flax bread.   I started taking multivitamin as well, doubt thats causing it.  The yogurt that it eat is that Dairyland vanilla classic yogurt fat free.

170 cals per serving
5g protien
37g carbs
        33g sugars
0g fat

the ingreidients: milk ingredients, sugar/glucose fructose, water, cherries, modiied corn startch, gelatin, pectin, guar gum, natural flavor, active bac. culture, citric acid, potassium sorate, benzoic acid, colorant.

I didnt think that you have to drink lots of water with purple K?  I thought that was only with monohydrate.

Yes you still definitely need to drink a lot of water. That's true for all creatine from mono to cee. That's the basis of how it works really. Not drinking enough might be what's causing your problems. And that's plain water not pop drinks.

As for the yogurt, it has a lot of sugar but I don't think that would be too much of a problem unless you eat loads of it. It's not really good to eat a lot of sugar, get some cottage cheese instead. It has 5g protein for every gram of fat and low in calories. You should'nt look for foods with no fat, because you need fat in your diet. It even helps your testestorone levels.

I take creatine and I've had very bad acne problems for about a year now, I use stridex pads twice a day and wash my face 3 times a day but it seems they cannot be killed... Is it the creatine, the 4500 calories i eat, or something else?

Update. Ive stopped taking purple- k and ive determined that it wasnt causing my acne, must be puberty or something.  Accutane  has cleared alot of it up already.

Accutane is an amazing drug.  I took it and it was very difficult to keep with it because it caused dryness and even made the acne worse.  But in the long run, it will really cut down, if not cut out, your acne problems for the rest of your life.  I suggest eat a LOT of vegetables, fiber, and good fruits.  Also drink lots of water.  You're skin will look amazing if you eat enough produce.  Washing acne does not work better the more you do it.  You are just going to make the healing process longer by agitating your skin.  It will get worse on accutane no matter what you do, so just deal with it.  Certainly wash it, but only once or twice a day, and then replace the oil you wash away with a good moisturizer like Aquaphor.

Yeah accutane is definately amazing. ive been taking it for 20 days and my acne has not gotten worse, but better in this small time frame.  The dryness does gets annoying though, especially the eyes.  The only thing i dont like about its side effects that ive experienced is bone pain, kinda limits some of my physical activity, especially when skiing(no more droping cliffs).  But yeah, they should give it to every pimple face out there!

I found retin-a gel really effective.

this not only stops spots appearing but also speeds up the turn over of new skin, meaning that any old marks disapear much quicker.

Besides this I found drinking pleanty of water to be key.

You could also try changing the way you sleep. If you lie on your front this could be aggrevating problems.

Retin-A is like accutane, in that it is basicall putting vitamin A on your face.  The only difference is Accutane is pill form, and it does some other things.  I don't pretend an expert on it, just a happy patient of it.  I know that you can't use Retin A or take any vitamin A supplements, besides a multi, while you're on accutane.  Definitely plenty of water.  Eventually the dry mouth and eyes will go away but the dry skin unfortunately does not.  The doctor usually warns the patient that the acne will get worse, and for me it definitely did.  It didn't so much multiply as it became more inflamed, and I actually had some pain on each pimple.

I had some headaches at the beginning when taking this drug, and I think the side effects you had, plus my side effects are why doctor's tend to make accutane a last resort.  They know it works best, but it's also a very, very serious drug.  There are warnings on EVERY pill in the package warning pregnant women not to take it, and to be on it women have to be on I think 2 or 3 forms of birth control.  Wow.

Furthermore, they've come up with a special patient registry, or I heard they were going to.  When I did it, you had to get blood drawn every month to check for any changes, and you had to bring the results to your doctor/dermatologist in order for them to give you a prescription.  The prescription itself had a special orange sticker on it, saying that "This must be issued no later than one week of the date on the prescription."

Anyways good luck with it.  I know it'll clear up your skin.  However, I am looking into doing another cycle of it, as it definitely improved my skin, but I still have some occasional pimples.

I dont even think that you are supposed to take a multi vitamin with it, at least thats what my doctor told me.  I have to go in for bloodowork every month, but they gave me a 4 month supply right off the bat, because i asked for it.  I dont even have to tell my doctor the results.  Did you get accutane after trying other persciption acne medications? A second cycle eh, that sucks, hopefully itll be the last time you have to take it.  Does it make you tired at all?

It didn't make me tired but it definitely was stressful taking it.  All in all it was worth the whole ordeal.  Good luck with it man!  I basically just went to them and said, no I want accutane.  I had it bad on my back.  I'm not big on taking antibiotics too much, especially for an elective reason.  SO  my only option was cream - how do you put cream on your own back?
