Pump in my chest - Saturday, March 28, 2009 2:39 PM ( #1 )
Hey all,
I never seem to get a a good pump in my chest as compared to other parts of my body. My biceps for example, swell up and get very tired for the rest of the day. After a couple sets of benchpress, however, i fell tired yet i don't seem tired for the rest of the day or feel the immediate swell. Is this normal? Is my chest workout routine not tough enough? I do 3 sets of 10 for the flat bench and 2 sets of 10 for the incline bench. The last set of flat and incline I do to failure.

thanx

what works pretty well is pick your max weight and do a pyramid type work out like this:

10 x 50% (warm up)       \
6-8 x 60%                         \
6-8 x 70%                        /    on these if you can't do 6-8 reps at first its ok
6-8 x 80%                      /
as many as you can at 70%
as many as you can at 60%
as many as you can at 50%

take about 5 min. between each set for a rest, you will def. be feelin the burn!!!

after this go into working the biceps, triceps, and shoulders.

the first time i did this i was sore for a week

try higher repes 1 min rest... 12-15 reps.... 3-4 sets... makesure u use good form. so ur not using too much shoulder and triceps , i ahve the same problem for my lats i can hit em with everything , they get tired , but barely pumped...  when u bench press.. instead of focussing on pushing up... focus on the elbow... i mean , focus on straightening your arm at teh elbow while relaxing your tris and shoulders opposed to pushing up hard.... try it , it focusses more the chest  then shoulder tri... let me know if u get a pump

also if u dont get a pump , try jumpin on the pec dec first and do 1 triple drop set , itll pre exhuast your chest ... and burn ,trust me
