hey guys i'm wondering how effictive pryamid reps are when working out. by this i mean reps of 12, 8, 6, 5, 3/2 while increasing the weight with each set. i heard that it builds big muslces and burns fat at the same time. is this true? i've heard that medium weight with lots of reps where you feel ****itue doesn't build muscle, just tones and builds endurance, is this true? i'm 21, six foot, ~145pounds, and 12% body fat. i have a slim, kind of muscle, and a dancer(ballet and hip-hop) so i don't want large growtest muscle. i want to get like 10 pounds of muscle. i work out 3-5 times a week for an hour or two and i also dance and am a full time student. i want a tight chest and nice abs(everything else i'm happy with). i'm not a big fan of benching but i do it anyways, i also do flys with dumbells and incline bench press with dumbells. for abs i do tons of things from slow crunchs on the ground where i hold each count for a sec and make my abs as tight as possble to weighted left lifts, reverse cruches, and cable crunches. i'm seeing results but its been taking a while, but 've also been working out for years. i'm thinking i should run and cycle more and eat fewer carbs and surgar to get more cut and lose some of that body fat.
