I am not sure how to word this question, so please bare with me if it sounds wierd.

If I take a "Whey Protein" supplement that gives me twice my daily requirement but is only 200 calories, does that give my body the necessary protein building blocks to accumulate lean mass even though it does not give me the carbs necessary to fuel the building? Essentially I am trying to find out if it gives me the tools to build the muscle but not the energy to do it, kind of a low/no fat way of giving my body what it needs. Thanks for the input folks.

Only 200 cals? Isn't that 50 grams of protein? You'll need much more then that amount. You can build lean muscle using protein, but you won't get the huge bodybuilder size without the carbs. Carbs can be the difference between fitness models and bodybuilders if that helps picture the different body styles.

Thanks for the information. I was jut using 200calories as a generic quantity. I am looking only to fine tune muscle increase on my body as I am trying to stay lean and cut the fat intake more from my diet. I have recently lost a lot of weight and am in the process of building up areas of my body I would like a littler bigger and stronger but I have no aspirations for being huge......again. Once again thank you for the input.
