Protein? NO-Xplode? Creatine EE? - Wednesday, March 08, 2006 7:11 AM
Hey,

I'm about to order new supplements and I've been wanting to get an extra edge lately.  My workout seems a bit daft and I'm going to change it up soon.  Here is the stuff I've been using, only because it's cheap and seems just as effective as other **** I've used.

I'm strongly considering adding Nitro, but I thought I'd just kill two birds with one stone and replace my creatine with the NO-Xplode combo by BSN.

Any thoughts from serious lifters out there?  Sometimes the Creatine gives me a stomach ache, but usually only if I have it with green tea and honey.

Thanks guys!

Jonathan

When you say No-Xplode combo from BSN are you referring to their 3 part stack: No-Xplode,Nitrix,and Cellmass?

Or are you just think on taking the No-Xplode inplace of a creatine supp? If so the No-Xplode doesnt have much creatine in it and you are reccomended to take a CEE product post-workout,such as cellmass.

I'm taking the No-Xplode/Cellmass right now and its seems work pretty well.

I took a 2 year break from lifting, started smoking and did alot of partying. I quit smoking 2 months ago and after 4 weeks of working out now, I'm within 25# of my max bench 2 years ago and getting closer every workout.

I've heard good things about Universal Nutrition's Shock Therapy/Storm stack, but never tried it myself.

Other people swear by Six Star's CEE pills.

If you wanted to save a little money you could go with the No-Xplode and a cheaper CEE product such as the sixstars.

I've never had a problem with stomach discomfort when taking the products on an empty stomach, but I'f I take the No-Xplode after eating a small meal, I do get some cramping and discomfort, but thats also going against the directions on the bottle.

No, I meant the No-xplode alone.  So you don't think the higher power that I listed for CEE (500 servings) is any good?  And what about protein (Whey concentrate, Isolate and peptides by Higher Power)?  I mean, I'm just worried about the brand ... does price really matter?  The only reason I would pay $40 or whatever for the NO-Xplode is because I hear such good things about it (I'm a poor college student) and if I'm going to get Nitro as a supplement, I might as well go with something that's well supported.  But basically, I'm looking to incorporate Nitro into what I've already been taking (the Higher Power CEE and Whey Protein).  Honestly, sometimes I think all the supplements are just bull****, which is why I don't really spend so much on them.  Before the Higher Power Whey (which is like $25), I was taking Low Carb Isopure ($75) and the only difference I noticed in muscle mass, was not when I switched proteins, but when I switched up my workout.  Thank you for your response by the way.

Im getting a little confused here. I was under the assumption that when you said that you'd like to replace your creatine with the No-Xplode that you were going to stop taking the CEE product all together. No-Xplode is a pre-workout supp only. Its designed to give you more mental focus, and help creatine and other nutrients get to your muscles faster/more effectively.

I myself am a broke college student also, and I heard alot of good things about the No-xplode so I decided to try it. The product works, but I've heard of other products such as Shock Therapy that work just as well, for 10-15 cheaper than BSN's NO2 product. After my container of No-Xplode is gone, I am going to try the Shock therapy and see how that works.

After reading about the Higher Power CEE, I have some mixed feelings. Your getting 2.5g of CEE from the higher power whereas the Cellmass gives you 3.0g. The biggest difference however, is the HP CEE instructs you to drink 12-16oz of water 30 min before, drink water during exercise and drink another serving of HP CEE in 12-16 oz immediately after your workout. That is alot of water to be drinking, and I have a feeling that you may have some stomach problems, trying to exercise with that much water in you.

Cellmass on the other hand requires you to drink 4-6oz right after your workout. Not so much water even with the 8-10 oz serving of No-Xplode 45 min before your workout.

I am in no means trying to push BSN products, but thats what I've used so far and thats what I can give you the best advice on.

One last thing I'd like to add until I hear from you again. I just checked out UN's Shock Therapy/Storm Combo and I'm actually very curious to try the stack. Its about $30 cheaper than the BSN stack, has more servings than the BSN stack, and the Storm Post Workout drink gives you 5g of CEE which is more than either the HP CEE or the BSN Cellmass. I'd def consider the UN Stack if your supplier carries it. I've heard some good things about it and am def going to try it when my current Stack is depleated.

Sorry - when I said that I was referring to adding it at the end as you said to.  I think I'm going to try the Shock/Storm combo you mentioned.  It's really cheap on the site I use.  I think I'm gonna try muscle milk as my protein too.

Thanks!

Okay - Here's what I ordered from http://www.bodybuilding.com and how much I paid:

UNIV149 Universal Shock Therapy, 2.22 Lbs., Wild Punch Kicker $29.99   CYTO002 CytoSport Muscle Milk, 2.48 Lbs, Chocolate $24.98  CYTO053 CytoSport Complete Whey, 5 Lbs., Strawberry Banana $27.49 UNIV151 Universal Storm, 1.81 Lbs., Fruit Punch $26.95   Subtotal:  $109.41    Shipping cost:  $5.99     Total:  $115.40

So that covers me for supplements for a while no?  I figure variation in Protein with the Muscle Milk and Complete Whey, and then the Shock Therapy/Storm stack for the Nitro and Creatine.  Good?  Everyone approve?  I'll let you know my results.

Seems very good. Excellent prices too. I got my No-Xplode and Cellmass for $100 after tax so you really made out on that one.

You may want to think about tossing a multi-vitamin in there to make sure your body gets everything it needs while your putting a strain on your body. Other than that everything looks great.

Please keep us posted on the UN Shock/Storm stack and also how the protein does for you.

High Power is bodybuilding.com's own brand.  I'm not sure on the quality... though i doubt it's bad
