I was in a store the other day and saw a ton of Protein bars and found some that i had taken and some new ones. I know Snickers has one out, Cliff Bar, then there are the ones at GNC. What exactly are the differences in these types of bars.. and what are you suppose to look for when purchasing one, there are soo many out there! Good protein amount, sugars, fat, calories, other nutrients..etc ?
I like to have breakfast lunch and dinner, with shakes and my supps when i work-out, but i also like snacks and would love to start having a bar during the day in between meals and classes or at night.. any options, brands or suggestions?

Thanks guys!

I like bars when i cannot get a meal or mrp in. For exmaple i was out of town and brought a box of bars with me and ate them as needed. Depending on the bar some of them will taste really good. In between solid meals are pretty much the best time as most bars will give u plenty of protein, fats an carbs to comprise a meal.

Bars I Like:
ISS Oh Yeah
ISS Oh Yeah Wafer(Low Carb)
DS Sustain
VPX Zero Impact(sits heavy in stomach)

Only thing I don't really like about protein bars is the large amounts of fats and carbs they contain. Unless of course you get low carb protein bars, but they're still somewhat high in fats.

to be honest, the cost of those things is ridiculous.

id rather make my own than buy them, i only earn $150 a week, and if i bought protein bars goodbye social life as well.

no, they aren't worth it.

chocolate (or whatever you want) protein
+ milk
+ oats
+ natural peanut butter

They're worth it if you are on the go and do not have time to prepare your meals.  The trick is finding one that is actually worth a darn, because so many have such poor and unhealthy ingredient profiles that do not fit the needs of weightlifters.  I recommend Designer Supplements Sustain Bars or VPX Zero Impact.  Two great bars that are healthy and taste great too.

Looks very high in carbs compared to it's protein level.... I still think you can get better even at GNC. I know ISS's bars are there and DS should be at VS. Even Zero Impact will be there.

protein bars tend to be high in carbs/fat or even worse; both. i forget the kind (maybe i'll look it up) but back in my wrestling days (i hated it back then but now i sorta miss it or maybe i just miss the the great @$$ i had as a result of it) but i have already went into how sloppy i have been getting lately so i will continue. i remember going on a protein bar/water/ diet pills (more for the caffeine to help mask fatigue)/ ibuprofen (for headaches) diet for almost a week; some may say its unhealthy but its better then not eating at all. it really worked well in terms of weight lose (not to be mistaking with bf lose) but somehow i still managed to throw up after losing in my last match but maybe it was more because i had never lost to that kid (had beat him 3-4 times in previous years). whats worse his coach made sure he never went up against me again (he ducked me in our team meet; my coach knew they would pull something like that so he had make 164; i warmed up early and when they sent out some freshmen at 64 we sent out our normal 164 so i had to go out first for 71 and he just sat) and later used it to placed better then me which placed me in the hardest bracket for regionals. my coach argued that he ducked me but their coach laid some bs on how he was sick or something.

I don't believe Vitamin Shoppe picked up the Sustain bars as a line to carry in their store.  Why not is beyond me since the taste and profile is stellar

Look for a new flavor. Vanilla Almond to be out shortlySmile

ok so what is the amount of fat / calories / carbs / protein & anything else, I need to have when choosing a bar ?
And does that mean by your responses that the GNC Pro Crunch bar is not good ?
