Protein Flavor - Thursday, June 18, 2009 1:14 PM ( #1 )
Back in the day (1980's) when Protein Powder wasn't found to often, I could get Chocolate or Vanilla. That stuff tasted like cardboard.

Forward to 2009, look at all the new Flavors out there.

What is your Favorite protein Flavor?

Currently I'm liking Banana.

Muscle Milk I like cake batter or just conventional chocolate.

Whey, I prefer just regular Wal-Mart brand chocolate.

After I had my rendezvous with VPX No-Shotgun, the original version, one of which I deemed the flavor: Brown Vomit. Actual flavor of "Brown Cinnamon", I needed a rag and a sink to down the stuff. After that however, taste to me means nothing when it comes to these fancy labels and "brand new flavor!" ploys.

Take the cheapest, and purest of quality and take it. That's my philosophy.

-However, I will say I got my hands on Muscle Milk last summer for a month and it was basically a milkshake. So, cytosport wins in the taste department.

The one taste that I think is the best so far is Prolab Enlarge's strawberry. Pure heaven right there.

I don't use gainer anymore though, just conventional whey. No personal favourite, but not anything fancy. Chocolate or vanilla would do me well.

Blue Razz fan here ever since childhood with those Blow Pop suckers that made your mouth purple.

SuperPump 250 Blue Razz is about as fake of a blue raspberry flavor you can get, and it's awesome for me.

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey in Vanilla Ice Cream flavor.

Call me a freak, but I actually think things have gotten much WORSE with all this variety.  Back in the '80s, everything tasted like ground up horse hooves and smelled like lawn fertilizer, but damnit, it was GOOOOOOD!  You just knew when you were drinking it that you were growing.

Then I remember when Cybergenics first hit the shelves, and it was like drinking an entire bowl of Duncan Hines chocolate cake batter Everything went down hill from there.  Personally, I'm trying to cut out all the artificial flavorings and additives from my diet, and I still gravitate toward stuff that tastes like the good old days.

I usually go for unflavored whey these days, like veggeep said, without all the artificial and chemical sweeteners.  I'll throw in some raw honey or stevia to sweeten it.

Before though, I liked Body Fortress' Chocolate and their Cookies & Cream flavors.

Does anyone here buy several jars just so they could mix up the flavors? Just wondering...

I like plain old chocolate, and I usually buy Optimum Nutrition.  To be honest, I'm afraid to buy anything else.  I usually order large quantities over the internet, and I don't want to get stuck with something that tastes like crap.  I have tried a few other brands in stores around me (Walmart, Whole Foods, etc.), and most of them tasted like absolute garbage, even the chocolate flavors.  I don't know how those companies put out such a horrible product, it tastes so bad I don't think anyone could like it.  The only way I was able to stomach the other brands was to add it to a shake with a ton of other flavorful stuff like ice cream and peanut butter.

Wal-Mart brand cookies and cream! Although the taurine always sinks to the bottom and tastes like you are eating sand.

Good ole chocolate here.

However VPX used to have one flavored strawberry kiwi that was freaking awesome.  there were times i would just eat the powder cause it was like eating a sweet tart.  Worked wonders that way when dieting for a show and needing a sweet taste fix

I 100% agree with the NO-Shotgun. I had some apple cinnamon flavor and I was forced to pinch my nostrels to get the stuff down. I've had some pretty nasty liquor in my days but i'll choose 151 on ice over NO-Shotgun.

Anyway, can't go wrong with Muscle Milk. Great stuff (cookies n cream). Anything else I stick to chocolate.
