Hi Old Navy,

First I would like to say I really enjoy reading your responses and your posts. You really help alot of us who are still learning. My question is about my supps.

In the morning after breakfast I only take a muti-vitamin. Should I be taking my protein shake also?

After my workout I take my protein shake. But I just bought some ON Micro Creatine, so should I take it right after my workout and 20 minutes later my protein shake? Or together?

What would you suggest on how to properly set my supps intake?

Thank you for your time!

What time do you workout?

I'll answer your questions when I know your training schedule.  It makes a difference.

Most of the time I work out in the mornings (anywhere between 8:00-10:00AM)before work or my college courses. My workout last anywhere from 1 hour to 1 and 20 minutes. However, sometimes things change and I have to workout in the night time.

Thanks again!

From the time you had your last meal the night before, your body has processed all the food you have taken in.  Therefore, your body is in a fasting state when you wake up.  If you don't feed your body (break fast) before you workout, your body will think it's starving and go into a protective mode, saving the fat for survival and eating the muscle for nourishment.

I recommend a breakfast of a cup of oatmeal (carbs) and a piece of whole wheat toast with peanut butter (protein and fat).  You should also drink a protein shake before your workout with a scoop of creatine, to add strength during your training.  Post workout, you should have another protein shake to replace what you used up in the gym.  Add a scoop of glutamine to aid in muscle recovery and repair.

Great thank you for your reply. But I have read that I should take my creatine right after my workout and then my protein shake 20 minutes later with glutamine. Is this right?

Thanks.

Creatine is a substance already in your body.  It helps with your strength during your training.  I take 5 grams before my workout to enhance what's already there.  Sometimes I take another 5 grams after.  If you are going to take it once, I would chose pre workout.
