Problems with gains due to ultra fast matabolism? - Monday, January 22, 2007 6:00 PM
I cannot gain weight or muscle , and i think its due to my ultra fast matabolism? I have dieted with excessive amounts of calories, carbs, fats, protien ect. Ive tried many combos and still no results. My dad and my brothers (most of all the guys in my family) were the same. Im 18 110pds 5'9. And i cant gain anyweight. I would really like to lose this cave like structure on my chest. Working out and eating seem like the only way for it to work but it wont work for me. Any suggestions on a diet , similar experiences or any products out today that help slow down matabolism?

Most people who say that they eat alot but don't gain weight, are simply not eating enough. You may think you are eating enough, when in fact when you are not. I can speak from experience, I'm similar to you, 5'8, 20yrs old and I was 103.4lbs in July, but I am at 123.2lbs now.

Anyways, this article should get you going.

thanks for the article, i was eating 5-6 meals a day for 3 months and working out and still didnt gain. I ate probably 2500-3500 a day. Maybe i do need more?

my bmr= 1360

so im guessing if i work out 4-5 days a week i need 2108 calories a day.

And how much should be comming from a weight gainer or other suppliment? Or should i shoot for 2108 + a weight gainer.

Most of the intake should be coming from food. I personally I don't take any supplements, except fish oil, and creatine (but when I finish with the creatine, I won't be buying anymore).

I'm not sure how much you are currently consuming, but I say don't increase your intake so suddenly if are eating below your required amount. Just eat 300 calories above your maintaince and if you don't gain any weight, then just keep increasing it every week.

Hi goog. Your situation sounds like it's frustrating for you. Damn ...

The foods choices that make up your daily nutritional intake have a great deal to do with the effectiveness of digestion through your system. It would probably be best to take a look at just exactly what you're eating now, that doesn't work, then make some recommendations for effective change.

Can you list what you might eat in a typical day?

Wakeup- 6:00 or 6:15 Sausage biscuit with chese and a big glass of milk
9-930 2 nutri-grain bars and a bottle of water or OJ
12:00 (i work at a chinese resturant) so its usually a chicked/pork/shrimp with tons of fried or white rice.
3:00 Another Serving of rice and i usually add some meat.
6:00 or so i eat Usually something of deer meat, 2 hamburgers with a salad and fries
9:00- Glass of milk and usually some cookies or a couple nutrigrain bars.

i have plentiful ammounts of deer jerky so i might start sliding that in somewhere.

Tell us about your exercise program. Note that it's through exercise and hormone stimulation that you instruct your body exactly what do do with the food that you're ingesting. If you want to put on meaningful mass (non-fat), then your muscles (and connective tissue) need to be responsibly stimulated.

Usually i work out 4-5 times a week.

Day 1- I work on lots of reps of small weights (arms, chest and back)
Day 2- Lots of reps small weight (lower body)
Day3 rest
Day 4- Heavy Weights lower reps (upper body) (3 sets of 10 or so until im to tired to lift)
Day5- heavy weights lower reps (lower body)
Day6- rest
Day7- Workout combo with everything.

Im thinking i might try using no xplode , cell mass and n-large. Not sure if its worth it yet though.

First, you don't really need supplements. Save your money. What you DO need is to improve your lifting program some and adjust the flow of nutrition to maximize the uptake.

Day 1 - upper body, high reps
Day 2 - lower body, high reps
Day 3 - rest
Day 4 - upper body, low reps
Day 5 - lower body, low reps
Day 6 - rest
Day 7 - full body

For each day of exercises that you list above, do you have a set sequence of specific exercises? If so, please list what you do for each of days 1, 2 4, 5, & 7.

you were overtraining... and you should be eating at least 2,500 calories per day. First you need to etablish how many calories it is that your eating in the first place because i think you might just be guessing.

www.fitday.com <-- just fill in all the blanks and it does the work for you registration is free, I thank angel for this one

I use to think that I ate alot when i was younger and that I just couldnt gain weight.. I was much skinnier then you. I was 6ft 113 lbs when i was 14. Force your self to eat the food you need to establish 2,500 calories. Force it down and keep it down, also try throwing in some muscle milk it has alot of calories and protein that your body can use. Read the contents on everything you buy.
