i was just in vitamin shoppe talking to one of the dudes who work there and he was telling me that the price of Optimum Nutritions 100% Gold Standard Whey would be going up by about 5-10$ for the 5 lb tub and the 10 lb bag
is this true? or is he just yanking my chain?

I was using it last summer and the price jumped up a lot for a 10 lb. thing, so I had to switch. Now I'm using Ultimate Nutrition Whey. I asked my supplier why it was going up and he said that the rising price of milk coupled with the rising gasoline prices are making it go up.

yea.. the EAS brand of 100% whey went up at sams club too around here... it is $31 for 5 pounds of chocolate whey.
the vanilla i believe is still $28 for the 6 lbs, but i cant stand vanilla

It's not just one brand. Most companies experienced a price raise last year. I've seen several go up in the last three months (Wholesale). Nature's Best Isopure, Muscletech's Nitrotech, Optimum Nutrition are just a few examples.

Would there be anything bad about buying like 3 bags of it and having them for the next half a year or so? Would they go bad or lose quality? I don't think they would but I want to make sure...

i work at vitamin shoppe and yes its true. but its not just us upping the prices, and its not just ON going up. there is a shortage of whey protein around the world thats why prices are increasing

price is expected to fall so i wouldnt stock up...otherwise you may just be looking money in the long run

i just went to vitamin shoppe yesterday and it was $45 for a 5 lb tub so i found an alternative. it is vitamin shoppe's generic brandon its BodyTech and the protein is called Whey Tech...it is the exact same thing as ON i compared the labels and amino acid content and for the most part it is the same exact thing. i wound up getting two 5lb tubs of WheyTech for about $50 bucks because they were having a buy one get the 2nd at 50% off deal. and the taste of the WheyTech is fine

actually why tech contains 17G versus ON's protein at 24G of protein per serving. Body Tech is a decent alternative. I take it or ON because they are the cheapest.quote:

what did you read my mind or something.. lol i was gonna say the same thing the vitamin shoppe brand and ON are virtually the same just a major differenc in price
