How do I make sure that as i get more muscle that my forearms/wrist are proportional to my upper arms. the last thing i want is to have bigger biceps and then toothpick forearms.

A good full day routine with all compound exercises... your forearms will grow proportionately. Stay away from straps and gloves... after you have put on significant mass and gained experience, you can add fore arm work if you feel they are lagging behind.

Just stick to the classic forearm exercises, but if you find they are recovering quicker than other muscles (like I did when I first started) try mixing them in to different days at the end of workout... but don't overdo it, in the end its just going to take time.

Deadlifts and shrugs, or if they need worked in particular, farmers walks (grab the heaviest dumbells you can, and walk around with them as long as you can manage). If you want your forearms to scream, do these heavy!
Everytime I get on this forum, I get a craving for peanut butter. 18 yrs. 180lbs. BF% N/A, estimated 17% ON 100% Whey, water and a whole lot of food!
