Pre/Post Workout
-
Friday, July 11, 2008 10:19 PM
Ok so I was reading a Muscle & Fitness magazine today and an article was saying that post workout besdies protein you need fast carbs (I knew that) but they suggested swedish fish, gummy bears, and jelly beans and stuff like that with no fat and lots of carbs. I was wondering if it was actually true because usually I just have my protein shake. Also what is a quick or easy to make pre workout meal besides banannas and oatmeal..would a nutrigrain bar work?

lolwut? Gummy bears? This isn't a barber shop. Stick with some fruits and combine with maltodextrin, that's cute. Blueberries are nice. Bananas are decent. No a nutrigrain bar wouldn't work. Get some protein before your workout, not solely carbs. Read danmirage's posts on gaining mass and losing fat.

Sure it would work. Post workout nutrition depends on your goals and diet as a whole If you're carb tolerant or "bulking" maltodextrin or dextrose in your post workout shake would be fine. If you're not carb tolerant or on a carb restricted diet, you may want to add 20-30g of glutamine and 20-30g of glycine to your shake. (be sure to slowly climb up to the glutamine dose as it can be hard to digest. also dont exceed the glycine dose too much depending on ur bodyweight as it wil make you throw up) Cheers.

This man speaks the truth. I assumed he was bulking because he was reading a muscle&fitness mag, so I gave him the scoop with the maltodextrin ;)

Ok thats good then. So since I'm bulking I can have swedish fish and my whey shake post workout which also means that I can save the bannana I used to use for post workout and use it for pre. Hmms sounds confusing but I think I finally found my permananet post and pre workout meals.

Na..I just thought it was intersing that it would work. Im not planning on doing that anymore. Tell me if this is good for a pre and psot wrkout meal: Pre-Workout: 30 minutes before? Oatmeal (instant or healthy one doesnt matter) Milk Not sure if I need a protein shake before or not...I use to take about 20g of protein before but would the milk replace it ? Post-Workout: Immediately after 1.5 scoops of ON w/ milk bannana or grapes water I would apprecaite it if someone lets me know if this is good or not. I don't know why but after so long of being on this forum (2nd account) and working out for so long I would know this by now. I guess I'm just getting more strict lately so I want to be sure if its right.

I read somewhere that one of the best things to have after a workout is chocolate milk. Anyone hear of this?
