Post workout insulin spike - Wednesday, June 03, 2009 5:11 PM ( #1 )
I used to use waxy maize for this, but as I enjoy drinking gatorade that is now the preference. I might have some candy/sweets every now and then too (if there is a time to enjoy a bit of sugar you know...) Any other preferences?

I don't see much point in eating nutritionless foods to spike insulin when there are hundreds of healthy options to do it with......perhaps fruit might work here??

I use cytocarb II by cytosport. It makes protein shakes smoother also.

Would gatorade fall into the nutrionless food catagory? Right now I'm drinking gatorade and a whey protein shake right when I hit the locker room. Is this a good insulin spiker?

Gatorade is fine to replace electrolytes, if you don't like the taste of pickle juice I guess.  But some fruit and water won't have the refined sugars, and there might be some vitamins and minerals in the fruit too.

I like it for postworkout.  Sometimes I even eat the pickles....
