I'm about to go back to working out and anywayz I bought some protein supplements. I've been doing some reading, and supposedly I need to take 0.8 of carbs per kilo, and 0.4 of protein per kg immediately after a workout with about 475ml of water.

This means I (49kg weight) need 38grams of carbs, 19grams of protein and the 475ml of water. However if I have that much protein, the carbs in the supplment are not sufficient as it only contains about 0.32gm of carbs if i have that much protein. what would be wise to put in the shake to increase the carbs?

And about 1hr later, a proper meal is needed. This is what i'm planning to have, is this sufficient? 1 english muffin with an egg, and peanut butter.

thanks

You could add maple syrup or even better yet, honey to the shake, to up the carbs (simple sugars are ok Post work out).  And that probably is not sufficient for a Post WO meal.

How about this for a post workout meal upgrade...

4 x egg whites, 2 x whole eggs scrambled with 2-3 pieces of brown toast and a glass of OJ

maybe. it seems a bit too much eggs though.

btw...with the post-workout shake, is it alright to substitute the water with milk, cos i think it's gonna be pretty hard to drink in water..lol....

You gotta eat more eggs if you want the protein my friend...1 egg only has about 7 grams of protein, thats not enough.

BTW, milk is fine for your shakes.
