My favorite post workout shake: 2 scoops vanilla whey protien 3 scoops powdered orange gatorade. Water *You need a larger than average shaker for this or you're going to drink clumps. 20 oz of water isn't enough to dissolve all that powder. It tastes like an orange creamsicle! Yummmm. I use gatorade because of it's fast digesting carbs. 3 scoops gets me 48g. I only use that much after weights. After cardio, I cut it to 1 scoop (16g). I'm starting the New Rules program in 2 weeks. I'm doing the "Serious about lifting, but seriously overweight" plan. It starts with fat loss immediatly after the break-in period. Should I drop the gatorade for this phase? Will not having the carbs mess with my recovery time?

I tried strawberry flavored ON whey, and found it revoltingly sweet. So I tried adding mixing 50 grams (about 2 scoops) with 1/4 cup lime juice and 1/2 cup water. It was awesome. And the lime juice adds basically zero calories/carbs. Also, using 2/3 cup of unsweetened cranberry juice worked really well too, though that does add some sugar/calories.
