Post Workout Carbs - Monday, February 23, 2009 7:02 PM ( #1 )
So I know that the body can only process roughly 50 g of protein at a time, so that is about what I take after workouts protein-wise, but how much should I be taking carb-wise.  Right now I'm taking about 40-50 grams, but I don't have any idea what's appropriate, but I know that they are important post-workout.

I think the number varies...depending on who you're talking to... some say .4-.6g per lbs of bodyweight.. but actually I think 50-60g are fine..

You don't even want to know how much carbs I had after my workout today.  50g oats 30g waxy maize 45g from grape juice.  That was all within 40 minutes after workout.  I would think you could get away with a lot.  I had a pretty draining workout and really felt like I needed a lot so I upped my carbs.

That's true, but I don't really put myself in the same category as a 140 lb. girl.
