Pinched Nerve in Shoulder - Monday, May 07, 2007 4:58 PM ( #1 )
About once every 3 or 4 years I have a pinched nerve in my left shoulder that flairs up.  It usually last about 2 months and then goes away as quickly as it came. However, this time it lasted for over 6 months.  The only option to have it corrected so I've been told by a Ortho doc is to have surgery.. Not really an option right now.. Anyway, after being in pain for 6 months, I suffered some severe Atrophy in my left chest, left arm and sholder.  any advice on how to get my left side back to where my right side is?  Should I extra exercises on my left to try and catch up?  Any advice you can will is a appreciated.

Sounds like it getting pulled out of proper posture alignment.........usually tight pec attachments, do the chest stretch many times per day, each time you hit a doorway every hour or so.
Also look at your postural muscle conditioning such as rotator cuff and seratus exercises.

This looks like a classic cervical radiculopathy at the C6 and C7 areas. It probably flairs up occasionally because you have a herniated disk that irritates a cervical nerve coming out of the foramen, and pinches it.   You need to review surgical opions if you are starting to lose muscle mass, or you may never get is back (i.e., permanent nerve damage = atrophies arm, chest, shoulder on your left side, forever).  Look at fusion, but also look at cervicalendoscopic procedures.

Bottom lime: Do Something (BTW< stretching will not help that condition one iota)
