I ladies! I hope you can help shed some light and some advise. The week before I start my period I have this uncontrable urge to eat and eat everything in site. I have been weight training for 3 years now and starting to look really good but I feel like I am blowing 2 weeks worth when this time of the month hits. Are there any suggestions or things I can do to cut these cravings. I have a tendancey to gain about 3-4lbs in these 2 weeks (week before period and week of). Thanks

this mite be a bit off topic to ur question but i have been like that for the last 2 weeks too! im 16 so yerr bit different hehe :) its really making me loose focus because ill be thinkin healthy fitness stuff like what to do and what i shod do abbout it...then i see this junk food or somehting and i just start eating and eating! i dont evn realise im eating it though..its like i go into sum sorta daze haha and evn if im telling myslf u shodnt be doing this i don't stop! i hate it hate it hate it! ive put on actually alot more though...10 pnds (although its been over a longa space then the 2 weeks) ive heard about this hypnosis way of getting rid of the cravings but i havnt really bothered to try! you shod just try to stai stress free...if theres something on your mind thats confusing or stressing or making u upset normally we stop listenin to our minds wen theres food....cause u dont have to think wen u eat! its the easiest relaxingg thing thats why we do it i rekon! to stop thinking! :)
come on don't burn sunlight....:)

That is what we get stuck with............I get similar pms, some days eating everything in site, see any commercial on tv and I want that food........days I don't eat at all, days I am sooo tired I sleep tons, days I cannot sleep and am wide eyed all night.........10 lbs of water gains, feeling like an egg...........what I find works best is to be very regular with vitamins/minerals, attention to diet and training has to be focused on, avoid the sugars and caffiene and fats and you lessen the symptoms, WHAT A VICIOUS cycle hey??? You do your best and that is all you can do, sometimes you just cannot control the hormones but I do feel better when I am able to minimize the binging and bad foods and am able to stick with the eating and training schedules. Do not do plyos during aches, as you can injure more easily. Every injury I have done was during cycle or pms and there is scientific docs. showing studies leading to the fact that women tend to injure more likely during cycle or pms. tylenol, advil or midol may help. Do take in more water and increase mineral intakes of electrolytes, and look into more calcium, magnesium and potassium which should help. Linda

Wow, you ladies have it tough! I'm glad I only have a slight chocolate craving the day before and the first day. No aches at all, although I used to have so much pain I'd spend the first day cuddled up in bed! Remedy: You'll laugh, but since I started on the Pill, no more pain, hardly any bloating (some, but not as much), no pms at all, and just that little bit of craving. Since I don't want to blow 3 weeks' worth of training with that "detail", I make a healthy chocolate fudge (recipe by Mike Geary) and have a few squares of that. It's made form 100% cocoa cooking chocolate, sweetened only by a little liquid stevia and the handful of added raisins, has nuts and peanut butter, cocnut milk, bran ... yeah, I think that's all ... so it's actually impossible to eat more than 2 1-inch squares! As for training, I'll either not have any energy and just do some basics, or I blow every personal record to pieces. Nothing in between :) If you have too much of those cravings, consider a magnesium supplement, it normally helps.
