HI, I NEED SOME HELP!!! I THOUGHT I WAS GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, BUT YOU KNOW I TALK TO SOMEONE WHO GIVES ME INFO AND THEN I GET ALL CONFUSED AGAIN, WHICH LEADS TO DEPRESSION, WHICH LEADS TO APPLE PIE!!! I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO LOSE 30LBS(NOT OVER NIGHT) BUT A.S.A.P FOOD & EXERCISE. I WAS ON BODY FOR LIFE AND GOING TO THE GYM 5 DAYS A WEEK. I WAS ALTERNATING UPPER, CARDIO, LOWER ETC. THE FOOD END WAS PROTEIN & CARBS 60/40 RATIO, 3-4 LITRES OF WATER A DAY. THEN I WAS INFORMED THAT EVEN THOUGH I WAS DOING 3/15 CRUNCHES ON A YOGA BALL 5 DAYS /WEEK, THAT I WAS NEVER GOING TO SEE A SIX PACK UNLESS I DROPPED THE FAT. THEN THE APPLE PIE CAME IN!! THEN I GOT MAD AND THOUGHT, I'VE BEEN ON WEIGHT WATCHERS, I THINK I WILL COMBINE THE 2. HIGH PROTEIN WHILE STAYING IN THE POINTS SYSTEM. THAT'S NOT GOING TO WORK. COULD I LOSE BODY FAT IF I STICTLY DID 30 MINS/CARDIO 5 DAYS A WEEK AND FOLLOWED THE BODY FOR LIFE EATING PROGRAM??? SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE I AM GETTING FATTER BY THE DAY!!!! PLS SOMEONE HELP ME OUT WITH A HEALTHY EATING PLAN AND THE GYM IN ORDER TO LOSE MY BELLY FAT! I DO REALIZE THAT THERE IS MORE THAN ONE ROUTINE OUT THERE, I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS GOOD FOR LOSING WEIGHT BY SOMEONE WHO HAS TRIED IT AND KNOW'S IT WORKS. THANKS

yea i seen you post on the abs forum. Look the weight watchers crap, that stuff will get you losing everything, fat, muscle, friggin skin (jking). Seriously though your doing plenty for cardio, also get plenty of sleep. No meals after eight, keep the carbs very low before you workout, a little fat is ok don't worry, because it helps with normal functions of the body. Take a motabolism enhancer, you might have to alternate between a few to find one that works with your body (ie. lean system 7, hydroxycut, heard great things about both). I dunno if you like milk, but calcium is acid to fat, so skim milk would be very helpful also. Myself I drink 2 gallons a week. Also, if you are really wanting to target fat it is ESSENTIAL to do it first thing in the morning to see good results quickly. That is the peak time when your body is able to burn fat. Hope it helps and good luck.

goodness, it sounds like your on point. The only thing I could possibly imagine keeping the weight from coming off is the carbs, but it doesn't seem the case. Whats your family history of weight like, heavy, light or kind of in the middle. Again, i don't know if you posted it, but your age also. All these things can factor impossible weight loss. What is your family history of hormonal problems like if any, diabetes ect.Another thing that could be the problem, depending on your age is thyroid imbalance. Things such as health issues would make it impossible also. I am just stretching here because your workout out plan sounds very good to me. Oh, and whats your resistance training like? Let me know.

oh, duh i totally missed that. Ok, if your doing weights and cardio at the same time, it makes it extremely hard for your body to both at the same time(burn fat or build muscle) If your taking in the protein your body will definitely make building the muscle a priority over burning fat. By the way that 1 pound you have gained was muscle, so you probably lost a little fat because muscle is actually heavier than fat. Heh, hit the cardio only and you should notice a huge difference, but don't completely abondon resistance training for a long period of time. When you have reached a sensible goal with weight loss return to weight training to keep your muscle development intact. Keep the diet plan and everything the same your doing fine on that part, but don't worry all your hard work was not in vain. All that new muscle you built will make burning the fat much easier and faster. Good luck and keep us posted.

ORIGINAL: seven COULD I LOSE BODY FAT IF I STICTLY DID 30 MINS/CARDIO 5 DAYS A WEEK AND FOLLOWED THE BODY FOR LIFE EATING PROGRAM??? Yes, you probably could. The Body For Life diet is really pretty sound and balanced. Nothing wrong with it. But why give up weight training? Muscle burns fat. Having muscle is a good thing. Besides, weight training strengthens the bones, reducing the risk for osteoporosis.

I suggest you concentrate on losing fat first, both for your health and for your appearance. One very good way to do this is to walk 90 minutes per day rather slowly (4.5 miles total) doing a sort of interval training -- go at a comfortable pace (maybe 17.5 min. miles) for four minutes and then shuffle along for one minute. Recent studies have shown this to be maximally efficient at burning fat. What you don't want to do is to get into an efficient rhythm amd start burning carbs. The theory is that your body needs time to break down fat for energy. The theory might be wrong but the results are solid. Be sure to stay well hydrated. This is a very poor way for muscle building or aerobic conditioning, but it is superb for losing fat. There has been some surprising research done recently about walking, such as: fat people tend to walk as fast as skinny/fit people. Once you are at a good fat level, you will want to change your cardio approach completely. At the same time, use light to moderate weight training and time your eating so that you don't lose muscle mass. Be sure to get strength training for your abdonimal girdle, such as Pilates. Get protein in conjunction with weight work. About the worst thing you can do is go on a low-calorie low-fat diet like Weight Watchers and then go out and take a fast walk every day. It will burn muscle and lead to yo-yoing -- you REALLY don't want to burn heart muscle. At 90 minutes you shouldn't have to lower total calorie consumption to lose fat. Lower the total time to 60 minutes and you'll need to watch calories. You really have to put in the time, as the fat burn kicks in hard only after about 45 minutes. Once again, this approach sucks for cardio fitness and muscle building, but it is great for losing fat without losing muscle.
