Optimum Anabolics Progress (Pics) - Tuesday, June 24, 2008 4:47 AM ( #1 )
Hello All,
I started a program called Optimum Anabolics 8 weeks ago. Below are before and after pics.

Overall, since I started serious bodybuilding in the beginning of January 2008 I have lost 20 lbs of fat and gained 10 lbs of muscle.

But as far as the pics below, I have lost 9 lbs of fat and gained 4 lbs of muscle. This is my ninth week and my last week on protein deprivation cycle. I can't wait to eat steak again.

nice progress... you're still a big dude, but you can definitely see some improvement in those pictures. You look a lot leaner, and the definition is starting to come in. Keep at it man, good stuff.

I'm starting my 6th week of the OA program today, I didn't know other members were doing it at the moment!! Week 7 starts my protein deprivation cycle, but I wonder if I'll be able to do it!

If you get a chance, you think you could shoot me a PM with what you had for meals (pasta, vegetables, rice, beans, potatoes, etc)? I think I'd be ok with just a few meal suggestions, but I'm wondering if I'll struggle with snacks... so let me know what helped you keep your hunger down haha. I think sometime this week I'ma go to the super market and just browse around for low protein foods haha.

RE: Optimum Anabolics Progress (Pics) - Tuesday, June 24, 2008 10:11 AM ( #4 )
Thanks for the comment, man. I’ve also tried Bulgarian Big Beyond Belief and Titan Training for my workout module, as well as Anabolic Diet for my diet. They are pretty good, too. But OA is definitely one of the best programs out there.

I am also a member of www.bodybuilding.com The members over there seem to think protein deprivation is a dumbass idea. Many also question the effectiveness of Optimum Anabolics. I researched and I found this site, which is more supportive of OA. But, regardless of what others think, I kept an open mind because the proof is always in the pudding.

Here is a sample of my diet during the protein deprivation phase. Now, keep in mind that my goal is to lose fat and tone muscle, and that my caloric requirements are different than yours.

Protein Deprivation Phase Diet:

Post Workout:
100 grams honey, 30 grams flax oil, 22 grams whey protein, 4 grams BCAA and 5 grams Glutamine.

Breakfast:
2 Rye Bread Toasts with 2 tbsp Peanut Butter. 1 Banana.
- or –
½ cups oats and 1 banana or apple.

Snack AM:
½ cup peanuts with shell ( I don’t eat the shell). Sometimes I eat 1 cup depending on daily requirement.

Lunch:
1 toast.
1 bowl spring mix w/ 3 TBSP Caesar Dressing
56 grams whole wheat pasta
½ cup spaghetti sauce (NO MEAT)

Snack PM:
Same as Snack AM.

Dinner:
2 bowls of rice (I’m Asian so eating rice is second nature.)
- or –
1 banana and 1 apple.

The above sample is basically my diet for the entire protein deprivation phase. As you can see, not a whole lot of choices.  This phase does not bother me at all physically. I don’t feel sluggish or weak like I did when I was on the Anabolic Diet months ago. (Anabolic Diet is basically high protein, high fat, 30 grams of carbs from Monday – Friday. Then you load up carbs on the weekend while consuming low protein and fat.)
I feel just fine on the low protein phase, other than the fact that I am craving steak and chicken right now!!

Contrary to popular belief, you will not shrink if you don’t consume protein. (Unless you are living in a third-world country in Africa where people have nothing to eat.)

Here is an excellent link on the subject. I urge you to read it. Protein deprivation is nothing new.

I see that you are from PA. I live in Wyoming Valley in Northeastern Pennsylvania myself.

Since we are practically doing this program together, feel free to email me anytime.

Good luck, man!!

Thanks for the input, fellas!

I agree. My forearms and traps lag.  I've been doing lots of shrugs since I started OA.
