Online Bodybuiling Journal - Wednesday, December 17, 2003 4:40 PM
Keeping a record of what you do is important to bodybuilding success. Keeping track of what you have done will help you realize what works for you. By using Bodybuilding Journal, you no longer have to keep track of your routine on paper or thread based forums. We have made the process of keeping a journal extremely easy for you by following a simple five step process (four for cardio). You will be able to track your results quickly with a click of your mouse rather than flipping through a notebook or forum. Our reporting system will be able to provide you with instant information about your gains in a fraction of the time. We all know how important it is to keep a journal as well as how hard it is do it. It is not hard anymore at Bodybuilding Journal. Our journal will help you achieve your bodybuilding goals.

Add Journal Entry
Adding an entry into your journal is a snap. By following our simple and easy to use process, you will be closer to your bodybuilding goals. If you have utilized a forum or paper journal, you can add your information to your journal at any time. There is a simple five step process to adding a journal entry (four for cardio).

* Choose day and date
* Choose muscle group
* Choose exercises
* Enter sets
* And finally enter reps, weight and comments.

Our Cardio process is much simpler.

* Choose day and date
* Choose cardio section
* Choose cardio exercise
* And finally Enter Speed, Time, Distance, Calories Burned and comments.

View Journal Entry
Are you tired of trying to find a previous entry on a forum or paper journal? Viewing a previous entry on Bodybuilding Journal will save you time. You can view your previous entries by searching through our calendar based system.

Edit Journal Entry
If you ever make a mistake or need to update an entry, you can do so by viewing and editing your entry. You have the ability to do the following edits.

* Update reps and weight
* Delete exercises
* Add another set to an exercise
* Change the exercise
* Change/update your comments.

Read Only Journal
If you want someone to critique your journal, all you need to provide them is your access code. This code can be generated on your profile page. No personal info is given out in the read only version. Suggestions on your workout can be sent to you via email.

Save Workouts
The five step process of adding a journal entry has gotten shorter. You can save your workouts on the last step before you submit your entry. Once you save a workout, you no longer have to choose the body group or exercises when adding a new entry. Just select your saved workout on the second step and continue onto step four. You can also edit and view your workouts. Keeping a journal just got a lot easier.

Measurements
Keep track of your measurements. There are 14 different measurements that can be tracked.

* Weight
* Body Fat
* Neck
* Chest
* Waist
* Hips
* Right Thigh
* Left Thigh
* Right Calve
* Left Calve
* Right Upper Arm (Bicep)
* Left Upper Arm (Bicep)
* Right Forearm
* Left Forearm

Reporting
There are a few reporting tools that will display your results in a fraction of the time than searching through a forum or paper journal.

* Max Weight - Displays all of you maximum lifts per exercise and muscle group.
* Exercise Comparison - Displays all sets and reps of a chosen exercise.
* Measurements - Displays out all of your bodily measurements.

These reports can be export to excel.

Expenditure
If you have confusion about how many calories you need per day to maintain your body weight, our expenditure calculator will be most helpful. You can find out your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), Specific Dynamic Activity (SDA), Kilocalories (kcals) and overall daily calorie intake.

Suggestions
If there isnt an exercise on the list that you do, you can suggest the exercise from the suggestion page. The exercise will be added ASAP. Once the exercise has been added, you can add the exercise to any entry.

Looks pretty good. Simple to navigate and locate the basic items. One thing I can't tolerate is a site that continually rotates you back and forth. If you got time take a quick peak of my site design that I did for my job. I'm slowy working on a personal site that contains my children, MP3 videos, and now I 've decide to add a "weigh in" section. You can get some pretty cool looking icons from different sites, but one of my favorite sites to get icons is www.apple.com. Even though I'm Windows type person.

I cant use numbers in my nickname!!!

This looks like something I'll use regularly to help motivate myself. It would be nice if I could track my weight, bf% and measurements too. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to add something for the weight and BF to the site. I was going to add these but decided against it. But i will add them now.

You mind if i use this as a testimonial?

Thanks, the measurements section is a little raw. But improvements will be posted soon. And Marc, your cardio will be added soon as well.

Yes.. Misanthropy does provide an awesome service. Tracking your progress is often an overlooked part of this game.. Everybody is focused on the routine and training.. but diet and tracking progress is just as important.

Gotta say, bodybuildingjournal.com is gonna be up there with the coolest web sites like FitDay.com

Thanks,

I just got done adding a function that will save your workouts. You can save them on the last step before the entry is submitted. Once you save it, addind a new entry is only 4 steps. On the second step you select a saved workout and then you enter the sets. You dont have to search the list of exercises or choose the body part. You can also edit your workout. Entering a new entry got much easier.

Thanks

check it out and give me some feedback on how to make it better. The only thing that cannot be done yet is to add exercises to an existing workout. That will be done soon.

Please.. do not encourage him.. next.. he'll re-program this forum and I'll be banned.

He appears to have some formidable database and web skills. He scares me.

I'm telling you.. BBJ is gonna be huge!

I have an idea. Don't know if you could implement this or not, but it would be cool. You know how Blogger.com has a thing where you can put a link in your Links menu/Personal Toolbar Folder that says "Blog This" that allows you to update your blog without going to the main site? It only lets you submit new posts, you can't actually do account config through there tho. Why not do something like that for BBJ.com? It would definitely make updating journals easier. Like right now, I have about a week's worth of workouts (actually only 2 right now) that I need to enter in. It would be really cool to just push a button on my Personal Toolbar and update the stats real quick, especially with the new workout feature!
