Hello. I am a 61 year-old retired U.S. Navy Captain with Vietnam and Desert Storm experience. In March I will compete in my first body building competition, a NPC event in Birmingham, Alabama as a Novice, Bantam Weight, Grand Master. I am a "natural" athlete and am working with a personal trainer to get ready. I am currently in my contest diet phase, weighing 147 pounds (down from 154 in my lean mass phase). I hope to compete at around 135-138, depending on "rip." I work out five days a week and practice posing on Saturday. I take Sunday off. I hope to learn some things from you and maybe you might learn a few things from me. Happy New Year. Scott "Old Navy" Hults

OK let's get this out of the way.

WOW YOU LOOK AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, now that that's over.

(these are just my opinions based upon the one picture)

Nice symmetry. Good size. Upper body in the shoulder area looks a little bare compared to your arms and trunk. Arms are VERY nice. Would like to to see a rear double bicep just to see what your deltoid development looks like. Might also want to see about adding a little more size to your legs.

Once again WOW. At 61? That's impressive as hell.

Awesome work.

Paul

Hey, thanks for the nice comments. I am taking my contest prep seriously. I work with a personal trainer five days a week. I do cardio on my own. I eat five meals a day, including two protein shakes. I'm doing this all natural, so I only take "approved" supplements, including creatine, glutamine, aminos and antioxidents. Plus a hearty dose of vitamines. I drink about a gallon of water a day. I'm in the first week of my contest diet phase, going from 148 to under 143 (bantam weight). I'm competing in the NPC American Classic in Birmingham, Alabama on March 19th. It's a show that discourages, but does not forbid muscle inhancers, but I am going all natural, so I'll see what I can do against the "big" guys. I will compete in my second show in Marietta, GA, two weeks later, a S.N.B.F. "natural" competition. There I will compete as a Super Grand Master (60+). Regards, Old Navy

Welcome to DB!! It's good to see someone else representing. Unfortunately I am doomed to an existence in cpl's former service since the Army is the only one accepting certified mental Naval Officers. You are an inspiration. It's just too bad that when I am finally old enough to show you how much bigger I'm going to be than you at 61 you will already be eating through a straw and trying to figure out the TV remote.Smile Best of luck at your competitions!!

I will, Jill. Thanks for the hospitality. It's like that down under, isn't it. Do New Zealanders say G'Day, or is that "Aussie" talk? Regards, Old Navy

Umm pretty much G'Day or Kia Ora which is the Maori native language, that kind of thing. Can't recommend NZ today, it's damn cold for the middle of summer and we've all got sweatshirts on !! Jill

Maui, Hawaii has a section of the island called "Up Country" a New Zealand type location that everyone goes up to in the summer to cool off. Having lived in cold areas, Chicago, New York, and warm areas, Los Angeses, San Diego and Birmingham, Alabama, I would like to visit your country any time of the year. Regards, Old Navy
